Al Schill of Franklin, WI (left) the defending track champion in the Super Late Model division won his second straight feature event. Schill has picked up where he left off last season and looks like he may be on his way to a second consecutive title. This weeks race was not without his challenges however as Randy Rogers finished second to Schill by less than two feet. |
Fans of Shawn Donnelly, a super stock driver, received two tickets to the Bahamas, during the first banner contest in 4 years.
Denny Hiffman moved out front of the 20 car super late model feature with Danny Darnell, Paul Loppnow, Landry Potter and Randy Harris close behind. On lap 3, Darnell got wide, giving Potter the opportunity to get inside the runner up and then the leader. Then Potter and Hiffman made contact , with the leader spinning in turn four.
Harris and Kent Burkoth had no where to go, being collected with Hiffman. For the second week in a row, Harris's evening was over, before it could begin.
Burkoth and Potter came back before the next green, as Darnell became the leader. Loppnow , Larry Los ,quick timer Randy Rodgers , Schill Sr. Schill Jr. and Dennis Vito all used the right decision when they lined up at the cone. Rodgers, slipped under Los one lap later, with an extremely tight field. By lap 9, Rodgers was clearly on the move , dropping Loppnow to third, after a lengthy battle, t lap later there was a new leader. Schill wasted little time , grabbing second on lap 11, with Schill Jr. and Loppnow swapping third.
| This years group of Super Late Models have been putting on a show for the fans. Averaging over 30 cars per week the Super Late field has been growing since their re-introduction last season. | ![]() |
Midway it was side by side, Rodgers and Schill Sr. for the top spot. For the next 5 laps, Schill crossed the line in first, but Rodgers would lead from time to time during the nip and tuck excitement. After starting in the rear Burkoth and Potter were coming up fast , but on lap 26, Hiffman and Burkoth got together and Potter dropped out , at the final caution.
Schill took the outside and surprisingly Schill Jr. chose the outside, along Rodgers.
The final green came out and Rodgers roared out front, but one lap later Schill secured the lead and went on to win the event over Rodgers, Schill Jr., Mark Hartline, Loppnow, John Simon, Los and Mark Simonsen, in this thrilling race.
| Tommy Nevoso of nearby Trevor, WI earned his first career Herb's Super Stock feature victory. Nevoso, a rookie last year ran wheel to wheel with last weeks winner Adam Regnier for nearly four laps. Nevoso won by less than a foot at the finish!! | ![]() |
Katie Taylor paced the 20 car super stock main event , for the first 3 laps , before Doug Peterson, Troy Weber and celebrating his birthday Jerry Cowan, tangled. Point leader Adam Regnier just made it through the melee , before the caution camle out. Taylor forged back in front , but Al Kuphal was right inside of Katie Taylor our only female competitor.
Second year driver Tim Mueller got around Kuphal on lap 7 , but Kuphal came right back around him. Another second season driver Shawn Donnelly was now on Kuphal's side and by lap 9 , in third. From out of no where , Nevoso let his presence known.
Taylor was still in command of the top spot , but everything was tightening up again, Neveoso, picked off afew more positions, with Regnier following his every move. Taylor had Nevoso right along side on lap 13, two laps later there was a new leader.
The final caution came for Taylor's lonely spin. This set up a 4 lap dash , as Nevoso and Regnier the point leader put on a show. Regnier led lap 17, but Nevoso came back to finish in front , taking the win over Regnier , Lyle Messinger , a recovering Cowan, Mueller , Donnelly , Kuphal and Jerry Marsh , with the crowd on their feet.
Ed Kubicz led the first 3 laps of the sportsman feature , before Kossow took over the top position. It was no run away, as Joel Clossey put up frequent challenges throughout the event. Kossow held on to win his first career victory over, Clossey Kevin Rybuck, Tim Schmidt , Rick Sohmitt, Rick Tackman Jr. and Kubicz.

Different grooves!! Lake Geneva Raceway is a progressively banked third mile asphalt oval. With steeper banking on the outside of the turns. This lends to some excellent side by side racing and drivers who search for the fast way around in practice. Notice the different approach to the corners the four drivers make! |
