May 2, 1998; Lake Geneva, WI. - After losing last weeks racing program to rain, one would figure the odds are good that the next week it wouldn't rain. Well it didn't quite work that way. Tonight as the Late Models were finishing up their heat races, rain again pelted the Lake Geneva Raceway forcing officials to again pull the plug on the racing program.

Before Mother Nature had her way however Brian Ulrich, Mike Simon Jr. and Brad Durbin all posted heat race wins in the Late Model division. While Al Schill Sr. took the dash event. Randy Rodgers appears to have his timing down as he set fast time for the third consecutive week in the division posting a lap of 16.319 seconds.
In the Herb's Super Stock division John Janssen again posted quick time honors with a 19.243 second orbit of the one-third mile asphalt oval. Tommy Nevoso won the only Super Stock event held taking the dash race before the rains came.
Also on hand for the evening were the Wisconsin Allison Legacy Series cars. Former Late Model hotshoe Bobby Giers of Ingleside, IL: was working on a clean sweep after setting fast time and winning the dash, only to see the chance for the sweep ended by the rain as the feature event could not be run.
Next week a full program will include the previously rain delayed Mid-American Stock Car Series event along with the regular program of Super Late Models and Herb's Super Stocks. Nearly 100 cars are expected next week and a full racing program will take place. There had not been three-straight rainouts during the entire 1997 racing season so odds are good that the weather will cooperate next week.
Lake Geneva Raceway is located on Bloomfield Road just three miles south of downtown Lake Geneva, WI. The regular race program takes place on Saturday evenings throughout the summer.
