Record 117 Cars on hand for Luxemburg Season Opener!

April 30, 1999, Luxemburg, WI. - The Luxemburg Tri Star Speedway kicked off their 11th season,  Friday night in grand style with a perfect night for racing excellent crowd and a record field of 117 cars in four divisions.

Jason Czarapata took the lead in the street feature followed by Bob Bernier, Randy Rahn, Joe Kerkhoff and Jared Siefert. Rahn moved up into the top spot by lap 4 and left the field to battle for the runner up spot. A lone caution appeared on lap 15, erasing Rahn's lead and setting up a 5 lap dash.

Czarapata challenged after the restart, but had the throttle linkage break, ending his race and allowing Rahn to cruise to his first feature win here since winning four during the 1993 season. Bernier held off Darren Otto for the runner up finish with Brandon Czartapata taking fourth. Jesse Colwell was fifth and Josh Massart rounded out the top 6.

Bob Waechter took the lead at the start of the IMCA Stock Car main with defending champ, Joe White, tucking in right behind Jay Matthias, Rid Snellenberger, Charlie Kroll and Tim Van De
Hei completed the chain behind. Waechter and White pulled away from the pack with White hounding Waechter throughout the contest. Waechter withstood the tough challenge and won his first feature since his championship season here in 1997. White was right behind in second with Van De Hei taking third, Snellenberger fourth, Kroll fifth and John Heinz sixth.

Luck of the draw is important on opening nite and Dan Ratajczak was on tho receiving end taking thc number 1 spot for the tough IMCA Modified main. Ratajczak took command at the start and despite three cautions, maintained a lead throughout, leaving the race for second place. George Henkel, Dean Maurer, Mike Mashl, Chris Derenne, R.M. Van Pay and Joel Schmit were the battle during the race. Van Pay and Mashl were shuffled back for contact during the race which allowed Brian Mullen Roy Ihlenfeld and Scott Mullen a shot at the frontrunners.

Rrian Mullen moved into second after the final restart on lap 19, but finished a car length short with Ratajczak collecting his first feature win of the year. Henkel ran to third place with Ihlenfeld fourth, Scott Mullen fifth and Derenne sixth.

Kevel Strebel 1ed the Sport Truck division feature wire to wire for his first win of the season. He was trailed throughout the race by heat winners, Joel Kroll and Bob Brown, finishing second and third. Brandon Blashe, Ed Danoff and Dan Davistcr rounded out the top six

The weekly program start a 7:00 p.m.,  every Friday night. The Luxemburg Tri-Star Speedway is located at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds in Luxemburg, WI.  Luxemburg is approx 15 miles
east of Green Bay on HWY 57.
