Eddie Muenster tops Mod main at Luxemburg!

July 2, 1999, Luxemburg, WI. - A perfect way to start the big July 4th weekend with clear skies and fast track at the Luxemburg Tri Star Speedway Friday night.

Dave Budzban took over the lead of the IMCA Stock Car feature from Rick Mahlberg on the 2nd lap with Joe LeBotte, Brett Wenzel and Kerry Havlovetz pulling in behind. The front runners remained the same until the first caution on lap 14, which bunched the field putting John Heinz, Joe White, Tim Van De Hei and Shawn Wagner right behind. Heinz hooked up on the outside and powered into the top spot on lap 18. Van De Hei slipped by Havlovetz for the runner up spot on lap 20. However, a final lap multi car spin in turn four caused the race to end one lap early leaving Heinz with his second feature win of the season.

Van De Hei, Havlovetz, Brian Bruechert, Bob Waechter and White rounded out the top six.

7299a.jpg (16579 bytes) Eddie Muenster (#5) took an early lead in this evenings IMCA Modified feature event.  He would continue to pace the race until the checkered to score his first feature win at Luxemburg Tri-Star since May 9, 1997.

The IMCA Mod feature took the green with Eddie Muenster pulling into the lead and taking Doug Maurer and Chris Derenne along to build a huge lead over the field. Buck Schmelzer and Dave Zeitler battled for 4th pace until lap 10 with Zeitler then setting his sights on the leaders almost a straight ahead. There was plenty of racing going on deep in the field with the leaders running alone in front.

The leaders closed in on Muenster over the final couple of laps but never challenged leaving Muenster to claim his first division feature win here since May 9, 1997. Doug Maurer took the runner up finish with Derenne holding off Zeitler for third place. Dean Maurer took fifth and R.M. Van Pay rounded out the top six.

Phil Niles set the pace for the Streets for 2 laps before Jesse Colwell took command. Following a lap 7 caution, Jason Czarapata, Brandon Czarapata and Frank Dorn were right behind the leader. Jason Czarapata took over the top spot on lap 10 with cousin, Brandon, following into second place one lap later.

The front runners remained close throughout the race with Jason taking the victory for the second time in three weeks, followed by Brandon Colwell held off all challenges to collect third place with point leader, Randy Rahn edging Jared Siefert for the fourth place finish. Darren Otto rounded out the top six.

Jerry Scray (#12) rolled his Sport Truck during a heat race and was hit by another truck while upside down.  Sracy was able to walk away from the incident uninjured and later would return to run a lap in the feature event. 7299b.jpg (13715 bytes)

Ed Danoff set the pace for the trucks for 3 taps before Ben Kroll flew by and drove off to his fifth division feature of the season. Danoff settled for the runner up finish with Dan Davisters third place finish, putting him into the point lead.  Brandon Blashe took fourth followed by Bob Brown and Shawn Dorn.

Luxemburg Tri Star Speedway is a third mile clay oval which is located on the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds in the town Luxemburg WI. Each week over 100 cars take to the track in a four division program featuring IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, Street Stocks and Sport Trucks.
