August 6, 1999, Luxemburg, WI. - A cool night opened the stretch run of the 1999 season at Tri- Star with four programs remaining.

The IMCA Stock Cars took to the track first with Dave Budzban taking control at the start followed by Jim White, Dave Bouche, Bob Bemmels, Charlie Kroll and Shawn Wagner. A caution on lap 7 shuffled the lineup with Budzban still leading with Wagner moving into second on the restart Bouche held third with Bemmels, Larry Karcz, Jr., Tim Van De Hei and Rod Snellenberger behind.

A couple more cautions kept the pack tight with the final setting up a four lap dash on lap 18. Budzben held the lead with Wagner, Snellenberger, Bouche, John Heinz and Brian Bruechert behind. Snellenberger made his move on the restart taking second and then pulling inside for the lead. Budzben drifted a bit wide in the turn which allowed Wagner and Bouche to get by. Snellenberger drove off with his second straight feature win and second of the year. Wagner had his best finish at second with Bouche holding on to third. Bruechert edged Budzban by inches at the line for fourth place. Heinz rounded out the top six.

Career feature win number one!  George Henkel (#19) advanced to the lead in the IMCA Modified main passing Dan Deau for the top spot.  Henkel then ran hard to score his first career feature triumph at Tri-Star Speedway. 8799a.jpg (17130 bytes)

Dan Deau grabbed the top spot as the Modified main took the green and started to pull away but a series of four cautions every three laps during the first half of the race kept things tight. However, during one green stretch, George Henkel worked into the lead while R.M. Van Pay, Dan Ratajczak and Dean Maurer worked to the front. After the final restart, the last half of the race stayed green with Ratajczak moving alongside of Henkel on the outside. For 5 laps, Ratajczak held on and was leading the way before Henkel powered inside and re took the top spot on lap 16.

Ratajczak pulled behind and chased Henkel until Van Pay applied pressure for the runner up spot. leaving Henkel to run alone to his first ever Tri Star modified feature win. Van Pay took the runner up finish with Ratajczak in third. Dean Maurer settled for fourth with Deau taking fifth and Doug Mahlik rounding out the top six.

Shannon Smith led the way for the first 6 laps of the Street main before having cooling problems force him to pit lane This turned the top spot to Bobby Rezek for one lap before the caution appeared. Fred Davister got a jump on Rezek on the restart and took over the lead for four laps before the tie rod broke on his car dropping him out of the race and turning the lead to runner up, Jason Czarapata.

Jared Siefert moved right behind in second with Rezek, Jesse Colwell and Brandon Czarapata behind. A caution on lap 16 set up a four lap dash with Czarapata, Siefert, Colwell, Rezek and Randy Rahn behind. Rahn moved to third and outside of Czarapata and Siefert. The three, also tops in the points, ran together but Rahn could not find enough bite out wide to pull off the double pass before dropping right behind Siefert. Czarapata held on to win his third feature of the season with Siefert taking second and Rahn third. Colwell was fourth with Rezek fifth and Joe Kerkhoff sixth.

Dan Davister led the first four laps of the Truck feature before Ben Kroll powered by and then held off Davister for the remaining laps to win his 7th division feature this season. Davister took second at the finish with point leader, Kevin Strebel in third. Brandon Blashe was fourth followed by Bob Brown and Shawn Dorn.

Weekly Friday night racing will continue through August, with the four division program starting at 7 p.m.

Luxemburg Tri Star Speedway is a third mile clay oval which is located on the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds in the town Luxemburg WI. Each week over 100 cars take to the track in a four division program featuring IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, Street Stocks and Sport Trucks.
