front of hometown fans,
Jay Matthias takes first career IMCA Stock Car feature flag!
May 21, 1999, Luxemburg, WI. - The Luxemburg Tri Star Speedway was able to complete night number three of the 1999 season Friday night with three first time winners and one repeat for the season so far.
The IMCA Modifieds took to the lightening fast track first with Dave Zeitler taking charge form the start followed by Chris Christenson, Brad Anderegg, Jesse Bray and Bob Zegers. Zeitler pulled away from the field from the start and during the non stop race was never challenged- The battle for the next few spots was tight throughout the race with Anderegg finally moving into second on lap 15. This left the race for third as Anderegg took off after the leader.

Dave Zeitler got out front of the IMCA Modified feature early and managed to hold on for the win in front of his hometown fans. It was his first IMCA Modified feature victory at Luxemburg Tri-Star since August 29, 1997. |
Zeitler raced to pick up his first home town feature win since August 29, 1997 with Anderegg running alone in the runner up spot. Current point leader, Roy Ihlenfeld ran with Christenson until taking third place with three laps left. Christenson held off Dean Maurer to place in the top four, Dale Boerschinger rounded out the top six.
Jamie Colwell took the lead at the start of the Street Stock main and led the opening four laps before Shannon Smith took over the top spot. A series of every other lap cautions started on lap 8 and went through lap 12. Smith was still the leader on the restart, but Frank Dorn overtook the leader and held the top spot for four laps before Fred Davister tucked to the inside on tap 14 and found the lane open to the lead. Davister ran off to his second straight division feature win while Dorn was left to hold off current point leader, Randy Rahn, for the rest of the race. Dorn held on to take the runner up spot while Rahn settled for third place. Shawn Olson came from he rear of the field to place fourth. Travis Van Straten ended up fifth while Jared Siefert rounded out the top six.
Chad Wilcox sat on the front row for the start of the IMCA Stock Car main and quickly pulled into the top spot followed by Kerry Havlovitz, Jon Wolf, Troy DeGrave and Craig Paque. The front pack ran tight for the early laps while the point cars were making their way to the front. This group was using every inch of the track and the cars around them to move forward many times three wide.
This hard charge caused several cautions at the mid point of the race and several drivers were shuffled to the back for the driving. Wilcox, a second year driver, did an excellent job holding the lead while all the activity changed behind.
After the final caution on lap 10, the race stayed green and Wilcox again held the top spot followed by Joe White, Paque, Jay Matthias, Brian Bruechert and Shawn Wagner. The front spot was real crowded over the final laps as the top six cars ran side by side and bumper to bumper. Wilcox held on until White was able to take a slight lead on lap 19, Matthias moved into the runner up spot on the next lap and the pair doubled up for a clash to the finish.
| Jay Matthias won a wheel to wheel duel with Joe White in the IMCA Stock car feature. Mattias took over the lead in the final turn of the race and scored his first career feature victory at Luxemburg Tri-Star. | ![]() |
White appeared to have the race in hand until the final turn when Matthias found an opening inside and took his first career division feature at Tri Star- White held the runner up spot with Wilcox taking third. Bruechert was fourth with John Heinz in fifth and Bob Bemmels in sixth.
Kevin Strebel led every lap of the Sport Truck main but the win wasn't as easy as is would seem. Dan Davister hounded the leader early to give way to Strebels team mate, Ben Kroll at the mid point. Kroll pressured for the rest of the way, getting alongside several times, only to have Strebel hold on for his first win of the season. Kroll took second with Davister third, Eugene Gregorich, Jr. fourth, Brandon Blashe fifth and Jeff Scray on sixth.
