Deau tops Mods and weather at Luxemburg Tri-Star, Van Iten best in Stocks!
June 4, 1999, Luxemburg, WI. - Despite mother nature throwing some light rain off and on during the night, the Luxemburg Tri Star Speedway was able to complete their entire program Friday night.
Dave Budzban took off from the pole to the lead in the IMCA Stock Car main leading until Tony Bouche moved into the lead on lap 6. Eric Van Iten moved up to the leaders into third on lap 8 and into the runner up spot on lap 11. Iten took to running the high side of the track to move alongside the leader and eventually into the lead on lap 16.

Once in front, Van Iten pulled away to record his second straight feature win. John Heinz was able to move into second on lap 20, but ran out of laps to close in on the leader. Bouche took third place followed by Budzban in fourth, Larry Karcz, Jr. in fifth and Troy DeGrave taking the sixth spot.
A brief shower during the truck feature caused a 10 minute delay, with Eugene Gregorich holding the top spot when the race resumed. Ben Kroll wasted no time moving into the lead and once in front, cruised to his third feature win of the year, Gregorich took the runner up spot followed by Dan Davister, Brandon Blashe, Ed Danoff and Kevin Strebel in the top six.
| Dan Davister (#90) became the youngest race winner at Tri-Star, at the age of 14. He has won a race the past two weeks on the third mile clay oval in the Sport Truck division. Tonight he scored a heat win. | ![]() |
Dan Deau sat on the pole and quickly pulled into the lead of the IMCA Modified main followed by Mike Klenz, Dave Maurer, Chris Christensen and Chris Derenne. Dan Deau (#94) had reason to celebrate tonight as he scored his first career IMCA Modified feature win at Luxemburg Tri-Star. |
However, another quick caution erased the move, putting Deau back in charge. The next restart, Deau was up to the challenge and held off the charge from Klenz to hold the lead and again, pull away from the fieid.
R.M. Van Pay and Brian Mullan made their way to the front and moved into second and third on lap 18. Over the final laps, Van Pay closed the gap on Deau. Deau went slipping wide out of the final turn, Van Pay had a shot at the win, but Deau carried his momentum to his first career modified feature win, Van Pay and Mullen followed with Klenz, Derenne and point leader, Roy Ihlenfeld rounding out the top 6.
An opening lap caution and another on lap 5, were the slow downs in the street Stock main. Rookie, Jamie Colwell took the initial lead before Jason Czarapata moved into the lead. The action behind the leader was fierce as everyone tried to make it to the front.
James Tebon ran second until Jared Siefert moved by on lap 10. Siefert was running the high side and pulled up on the leader. It took 6 more laps to move into the lead and once there, pulled away to win his first ever Tri Star feature. Czarapata took the runner up finish with cousin, Brandon Czarapata in third place. Jesse Colwell placed fourth with point leader, Randy Rahn, making the long run from the back of the field, placing fifth. Tebon rounded out the top six.
Next week will be Big Wheel night at Luxemburg Tri Star. The third mile clay oval is located on the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds in Luxemburg WI.
