Troy Kraynik, had plenty to smile about this evening as he scored his first career IMCA Modified feature win at the Luxemburg Tri-Star Speedway. Kraynik held off George Henkel to score the victory. |
James Van Rixel led the opening 3 laps of the Street Stock main with John Belschner taking control on lap 4 and pulled away from the field, until a caution on lap 7 bunched the pack. After several caution periods Brandon Czarapata found his way to the front and on the final restart on lap 12, his cousin, Jason Czarapata was running second, Randy Rahn third, Belschner fourth and Jesse Colwell fifth. The Czarapata's led the way to the finish with Rahn trying, but unable to work by to the front and finished third. Colwell, Belschner and Darren Otto rounded out the top six. It was the first feature win of the season at Tri Star for Czarapata
Brett Wenzel led the opening lap of the IMCA Stock Car feature before Dave Bouche drove into the top spot and pulled the field until Rob Waechter and Pat Davister moved to 2nd and 3rd on lap 7. The pair closed in on the leader and Waechter moved into the lead on lap 11.
Once in front, Waechter checked out and drove alone to his second feature win of the season, Bouche held the runner up spot until Davister inched by on the second last lap. Jon Wolf took fourth followed by Brian Bruechert and point leader, Joe White.
The mods took the track with Troy Kraynik leading the way followed by George Henkel, Dave Fisher, Den Deau, Brad Anderegg and Dean Maurer. The track was very slick and caused a series of cautions from laps 6 through 12. Kraynik held the top spot through the period. Henkel was still holding second but R.M. Van Pay, Mike Mashl and Dan Ratajczak were now in the top six.
With passing at a premium and a non existent outside line, the pressure was on the leader to maintain his line. He did just that and won his first career feature event in five years of racing. Henkel held off Anderegg for the runner up finish with Van Pay holding off Brian Mullen on the final lap for fourth. Dean Maurer rounded out the top six.
Kevin Strebel and Ben Kroll pulled away from the Sport Truck field early and battled alone during the race. Strebel held his line until slipping wide on lap 8, which was all the gap Kroll needed to slip into the top spot and drive to collect his fourth feature win of the season. Eugene Gregorich Jr., running his final race in the division, caught Strebel with two laps remaining to take second. Strebel took third. Dan Davister, Ed Danoff and Stan Critcher rounded out the top six.
Luxemburg Tri Star Speedway is a third mile clay oval which is located on the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds in the town Luxemburg WI. Each week over 100 cars take to the track in a four division program featuring IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, Street Stocks and Sport Trucks.
