Four new Y2K
winners test victory lane at Luxemburg! July 14, 2000; Luxemburg, WI. - A brief, heavy shower at 5PM caused a delay in the start of the program, but skies cleared for a bright full moon racing program at the Luxemburg Tri Star Speedway Friday night. In the end, there were four new feature winners for the season.
The IMCA Modifieds started the feature runs with Scott Mullen pulling into the top spot at the start followed by Chris Christensen, Len Deterville, Darren Otto, Joel Schmit and Joe White. Numerous cautions filled the first half of the race with Mullen holding the top spot throughout. Jerry Muenster worked into the runner up spot with R M. Van Pay making his way into the top four on lap 7. During a lap 10 caution, Van Pay had to pit with a flat tire putting Jared Siefert into the top spots. An 8 lap green spell saw point leader, Brian Mullen, continue to work to the front. After starting the contest last, having come through the consy, He moved from 11th place on the restart into 4th on lap 15. He was running in third place when the final caution appeared on lap 19. Scott was still in control and Muenster was second. Brian was third followed by Schmit, White and Siefert. It took Brian a couple laps to secure the runner up spot after the restart and then moved up on the leader. Brian tried both inside and outside lines to shake his brother out of the top spot, but Scott was a man on a mission, to collect his first feature win of the season. He did just that with Brian right behind at the checker. Muenster held off White for the third place finish with Schmit taking fifth and Randie Back rounding out the top six. It was Scott's first division feature of the season and he became the 7th different feature winner in 2000.
The Street Stock division was next and the field had similar problems running through numerous cautions during the first half of the race. Charlie Kroll again drove his brothers car and took command right away followed by Jeff Vlies, Kevin Kickbush, Rich Kyllonen and Jesse Colwell. The first caution appeared on lap 6 and the final caution flew on lap 12, which left an 8 lap dash to the finish. Kroll continued to set the pace followed by Vlies, Colwell, James Tebon, Bob Bernier and Jamie Colwell. Bernier moved into the runner up spot and the top 2 pulled ahead by a length with a tight battle for second. Tebon, Colwell, point leader, Travis Van Straten and James Van Rixel battled to the final lap. Kroll collected his first career Tri-Star Feature win in the street stock division with Bernier taking second. Colwell moved into third with Tebon alongside for fourth. Van Straten and Van Rixel rounded out the top six positions. The IMCA Stock Cars took to the track and ran off a non stop feature to close the nights activities.
Kerry Havlovitz pulled into the lead at the start followed by Matt Junio, Larry Karcz, Jr, Rod Snellenberger, Brandon Czarapata, and Tim Van De Hei. Snellenberger took to the outside at the start and pulled into the lead on lap 5. Karcz, Czarapata and Shawn Wagner were right behind. Karcz and Snellenberger tied up the front for much of the race, running side by side. Karcz finally wrestled the top spot away on lap 15 with Tim Van De Hei moving into the runner up spot. Brian Bruechert was holding fourth with Pat Davister and Benji LaCrosse moving into the top six. It took Van De Hei four laps to make his way into the top spot, but once in front, he was able to pull away to win his first feature of the season here. They followed in that order with Van De Hei leading the way to the finish.

A lone caution appeared on lap 5, and Jerry Scray used the restart to perfection, moving from 8th into the runner up spot in one lap. Scray took to the outside and moved on the leader, taking over the top spot with only 2 laps left. Point leader, Strebel, moved into the runner up spot but ran out of laps a settled for second with Scray picking up his first career feature win.
