Vlies only feature winner as weather cuts short action at Luxemburg!
By Dave Panske

July 21, 2000; Luxemburg, WI. - A smooth, fast track and exciting program was cut short Fnday night with a heavy downpour just as the Street Stock feature was finishing, washing out the remaining three features at Tri Star.

Jeff Vlies (#22) took a sweep of the evening's Street Stock action as he won both his heat and the feature event.

Laurel Ettien paced the opening circuit of the Street main before Jeff Vlies powered into the top spot. Leon Schott, Jesse Colwell, Jeff Treml, Mike Coel and Corey Haen followed to the front. Haen had the right rear wheel break off the car on the front chute bringing out the first caution on lap 4.

One lap after the restart, Colwell moved to the outside and into the lead. Vlies stayed right behind with Schott, Coel, Ettien, Jamie Colwell, Treml and Fred Davister bunched and baffling behind. A second and final caution showed on lap 13 setting up a 7 lap dash. Jesse continued to set the pace with Vlies holding second Jamie moved third place. With four laps left, Vlies moved outside and alongside the leader. With 2 laps left, Vlies inched ahead of Colwell, and retook the top spot as the white flag appeared and the rains came. The entire field held on to complete the final lap with the slick, wet track preventing any change in the order. Vlies collected his second feature win of the year with Jesse and Jamie Colwell next in line. Cole took fourth with Davister and Treml rounding out the top six.

Shawn Olson (#20) a former front-runner in the Street Stock division, is now a rookie in the IMCA Modifieds.   Tonight Olson scored his first Modified checkered here at Luxemburg Tri-Star Speedway by winning his heat race. 72100a.jpg (16141 bytes)

The rains continued to pour down, forcing the IMCA Modified, IMCA Stock Car and Sport Truck features to be canceled.

Racing will resume next Friday night before a special Wednesday night program on August 2, to open the Kewaunee County Fair.
