claims Mod checkered Massart scores career first IMCA Stock win! June 23, 2000; Luxemburg, WI. - Despite on and off showers and threatening skies, the Luxemburg Tri Star Speedway was able to complete their Dorsch Ford night program with two repeat and one first time feature winner Friday night. The streeters took to the track first with Leon Schott leading the way for the first 7 laps followed by Shawn Wagner, Jerry Kroll, Tom Leonhard, Jesse and Jamie Colwell and Mike Coel. Following a lap 6 caution, Kroll moved into the runner up spot and on the next lap, inherited the lead when Schott pulled his car off the track in turn four and into the pit. Jesse and Jamie Colwell, Coel, point leader, Travis Van Straten and Wagner were now right behind. On lap 12, Jesse Colwell brought out the final caution of the race when his car stalled in turn four, Mike Coel took over the runner up spot after the rested and chased Kroll to the finish. Kroll picked up his third feature win of the season with Coel, Jamie Colwell, Van Straten, Bob Bemier and James Van Rixal rounding out the top six.
Josh Massart beat pole sitter, Chad Wilcox into the lead of the IMCA Stock Car main. Rod Snellenberger pulled into the runner up spot on lap 3 with Benji LaCrosse moving into third on lap 7. LaCrosse was working on Snellenberger for second when a flat tire forced him to the pit lane. On the restart, Snellenberger again took up the challenge for the lead while Larry Karcz, Jr took over third followed by Jason Czarapata, Tim Van De Hei and Pat Davister. Several cautions slowed the race but, Massart held a consistent line around the track, to keep the pressure on the challengers to get by. The battle for third on back doubled up the field and kept the entire field running hard. Just as the leaders picked up the white flag, the 4th, 5th and 6th place cars tangled in turn four, bringing out the caution and ending the race one lap early, giving the much deserved win to the rookie, Josh Massart, his first career feature win in the division. Snellenberger was right behind in second followed by Czarapata, Karcz, Brian Bruechert and Van De Hei.
The Modifieds closed the program with Jeremy Jacobs taking the early lead in the main followed by Scott Boyea, Dave Fisher, Russ Reinwand, Robert Waechter and Brad Anderegg. Fisher moved into the top spot on lap 5 and at the same time, R.M. Van Pay and Jerry Muenster moved into the top five. Van Pay was running the inside line tight, and moved into the runner up spot on lap 8. It took 3 more laps to work into the top spot and he started to pull from the field. A final caution period on lap 12 bunched the field, and Van Pay again took off from the pack on the restart Fisher kept the pressure on for a couple laps, before Van Pay again started to pull away from the field. Brian Mullen hooked up on the outside and worked into the runner up spot on lap 17. Mullen then had to face a 2 second margin to catch the leader, and slowly closed the gap on every lap. He erased the margin with 2 laps left, but ran out of time to pressure the leader. Van Pay held on to win his second feature of the season here with Mullen, the current point leader, taking the close second. Anderegg took third followed by Randie Back, Doug Maurer and Fisher, rounding out the top six.
