February 25, 2000, Luxemburg, WI. - The annual pre season general meeting was held on Wednesday night by Tri Star Promotions to get the 2000 season under way at the Luxemburg Tri Star Speedway. It will be the 12th year operating the 1/3 mile clay oval located at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds in Luxemburg.
The 2000 season opener will take place on Friday night, April 28, with racing starting at 7 PM. The weekly programs will again feature 4 divisions, headlined by the IMCA Modifieds. The IMCA Stock Cars, Street Stocks and Sport Trucks will complete the lineup.
It was also announced that the Street Stock division rules will be the same at Luxemburg, Sturgeon Bay and Seymour for the 2000 campaign.
There will be 18 regular season programs run every Friday night, with the final night on August 25th. Preliminary plans may bring racing back to the Kewaunee County fair this year for a regular Friday night slot. There may also be a second fair race, with those plans still in the works. The second race would bring in a special program.
The dates for the mandatory safety inspections for all cars wanting to race at Tri Star were announced. The first will take place on Saturday April 15th, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The fan pre season car show will also be held on the 15th. Inspections will also be done on Sunday, the 16th from Noon to 4 p.m. and again on Tuesday night, April 25th, from 4:30 p.m. to dark.
Reserved pit parking will be available again this year with spots going on sale at 4 p.m. on opening night. Along with the front row parking, drivers can reserve a spot anywhere in the pit. All will be sold first come first served.
The pit area opens at 5 p.m. every week with racing starting at 7 p.m. Once again, all divisions will rotate their running order every week. The amount of laps for heats and features was discussed and will probably remain the same for this season.
Tri Star will also continue their association with the Green Bay area Special Olympics. A track program will be published this season by Special Olympics to be sold at the track. It will feature a complete summary of the history of the track as well as an outlook for the 2000 season. Special Olympics Will get 50% of the proceeds while donating 50% to a special driver's fund, which will be divided between all divisions at the end of the season. Special Olympics will also continue their weekly 50/50 raffle.
Tri Star is also offering a season grandstand pass for sale this year with the cost at $126.00.
