July 13, 2001; Luxemburg, WI. - No bad luck here for the three divers that won the four features in a fast paced program at Tri Star.
James Van Rixel took off from the outside pole to pace the first 5 laps of the Street Stock event before Jeff Treml pulled into the top spot on lap 6. Dan Davister, Charlie Kroll, Laurel Ettien, Mike Coel and Fred Davister were right behind. The front four remained the same until after the half way mark. Kroll then decided to pull to the outside and pick his way to the front. Kroll took the lead on lap 15 and drove off with his third feature win of the season. The battle remained tight for the runner up spot with Treml battling Van Rixel, Coel, Dan Davister Ettien and point leader, Jesse Colwell. Treml held on for second with Van Rixel taking third. Colwell took fourth with Coel and Ettien rounding out the top six. Charlie Kroll jumped from the street stock into the IMCA Stock Car to start that feature on the front row in the Ben Kroll car. Kroll grabbed the top spot at the start followed by Joe LeBotte, Dave Bouche, Dave Budzban, Eric VanIten and Craig Paque. Kroll continued to pull away from the field leaving the race for the runner up spot. Bouche had to contend with a persistent Pat Davister for over 3/4 of the event with Paque right behind. Point leader, Benji LaCrosse joined the top four on lap 8 with Jeremy Christians in sixth. Kroll led the race flag to flag for his first division win here since Aug 27, 1999. He also entered the record books as the first driver at Tri Star to win two features on the same night in different divisions. Bouche held off Davister for the runner up finish with Paque in fourth, LaCrosse fifth and Christians in sixth. The younger drivers dominated the front of the Modified main. Rookie, Greg Soukup too the lead at the start and led the way for the first half of the race with Bill LeMieux, Art Siefert, Bill Lemmens and Jeremy Jacobs behind. LeMieux pulled to the outside and powered into the lead on lap 12 with Siefert also taking the outside line after a lone caution on lap 15. Siefert moved into the runner up spot on lap 17 and 1 lap later was in front of the pack. The final 6 laps brought one of the best races ever to a finish. Siefert was leading with LeMieux right behind. Soukup was still third with Edie Muenster, Sean Jerovetz and Todd Dart behind. Jerovetz became the mover, hooking up on the outside like he had from the start. Coming from the 18th spot, Jerovetz used the high line to pick off the leaders and moved into the lead on lap 22. The rookie driver pulled ahead over the final couple laps to record his first career division feature. Siefert took his best finish of the year in second with Muenster in third. Scott Mullen, in his first run of the season here, nipped LeMieux at the line for fourth. Brian Mullen picked his way to a sixth place finish. Jeff Scray took the lead at the start of the Truck feature and pulled away during the contest to record his third feature win in four weeks. Jerry Scray took over the runner up spot from Shawn Dorn on lap 3 and chased the leader to the finish. Ed Danoff came from the back of the pack for the third place finish. Dave Davister, Kevin Strebel and Dan Scharenbroch rounded out the top six. SUMMARY IMCA MODIFIED IMCA STOCK CAR STREET STOCK SPORT TRUCK |
