Another dry spell ends as Ben Kroll (#42)  won his first truck feature since Aug 16, l999 Friday night.

The Modifieds took to the track for their feature with Steve Domalick taking charge for the opening lap before Jeremy Hodkiewicz led lap 2. Dan Deau blew by into the top spot on lap 3 and started to pull away from the pack. The field remained close until the first of two cautions appeared on lap 8. Only 2 laps later the final caution flew for another multi car spin. The green was out for the rest of the race with Deau still in control. Defending champion, Brian Mullen moved by Dave Zeitler into the runner up spot with Jerry Muenster, Scott Mullen, Dan Ratajczak and current point leader, R.M. Van Pay behind Zeitler.

Mullen worked on the leader until lap 16, when he found a gap to the inside and took over the lead. Once in front, Mullen pulled away for his fourth feature win of the season. The battle was then for the season place finish and six cars all wanting the same piece of track. Muenster was able to moved up and take over the second spot from Deau with 3 laps left but could not close on Mullen. Deau held off Van Pay to finish third. Scott Mullen came home in fifth and Ratajczak rounded out the top six.

Mullen collected a couple bonuses for the win as well. Cash from the sponsor to go along with a career 75th modified feature win. He is second on the all time feature win list at tri star with 24. Van Pay leads with a career best 30 here.

After one attempt to get the Street Stock feature started, the race went green to checker. Jamie Colwell led the way from the first lap holding the lead until Mike Coel took charge on lap 5. Coel pulled away from the pack battling for second.

Point leader, Jesse Colwell moved into the runner up spot on lap 10 and spent the last half of the race chasing down the leader. Lapped traffic over the final few laps helped Colwell close in on Coel, but not enough to challenge fort the win. Coel collected his second feature win of the season and is only 5 marks behind Colwell for the point lead with two point races left this season.

Jamie Colwell held off Leon Schott for the third place finish. Fred Davister and Ed Anschutz battled side by side to the finish with Davister taking fifth and Anschutz sixth.

Travis Van Straten eased into the lead by Travis Annoye and set the pace through the lone caution on lap 3 and then until Dave Bouche pulled into the top spot on lap 6. Shawn Kilgore followed into the second spot one lap later and the leaders pulled away from the rest of the pack. By the mid point of the race, Jeremy Christians had cleared traffic and was running in third.

He started to close on the leaders, running the outside line. He caught up but ran out of laps to mount a challenge for the lead. Bouche held off Kilgore for his first feature win here since August 2, l996. Kilgore, was right behind for the close second place finish with Christians third. Jon Wolf, Eric VanIten, Tim Van De Hei and Jay Matthias made up the next group and after the race long fight, Wolf was the next in line with VanIten fifth and Van De Hei sixth.

Ben Kroll started the Truck feature in the front row and pulled into the lead which he never gave up on the way to his first division feature of the season and his first here since August 13, 1999. Dave Davister ran to a second place finish with defending champion, Kevin Strebel taking third, and in the process, took over the point lead for the first time this season, having been tied entering the night with Dan Davister. Jerry Scray, Ed Danoff and Jeff Scray rounded out the top six finishers.

There will be NO racing this Friday night, August 3, because of the Kewaunee County Fair. Three races remain on the schedule with a resume to racing on Friday night, August 10. The season makes a slight deviation the following week when Tri Star plays host to an IMCA Modified and Stock Car National touring event. This race will be held on THURSDAY night, August 16, with racing starting at 6:30. The Mods will race for $1500 to win and the Stocks for $1000. There will be no regular racing on Friday night, the 17, but it is the rain date for the special if needed. The Street Stocks and Trucks will not compete that week.

The 2001 regular season will end on Friday night, August 24 with the final race of the season to determine the point chases in all four divisions.
