Luxemburg toasts the best
of 2000 season at banquet! March 3, 2001; Luxemburg, WI. - Tri Star Promotions held their annual awards dinner and dance on Saturday night at the Northbrook Country Club in Luxemburg to close their 200 racing season at the Luxemburg Tri Star Speedway. The top five drivers in each division were recognized along with rookie drivers in three of the four divisions. .
Brian Mullen led the way in the IMCA Modified division with a season high 5 feature wins to claim his fourth Tri Star track championship. It was his second straight title. R.M. Van Pay ran to two feature wins and was runner-up to Mullen by only 10 points. Eddie Muenster was third after picking up one feature win. Mike Klenz and Randie Back rounded out the top five. Eric VanIten walked off with his first career track title in the IMCA Stock Car division and did it without winning a feature. Pat Davister took the runner up spot only one point behind VanIten and did enter victory lane twice during the season. Jeremy Christians ran strong all season long with a division leading three feature wins but trouble the last two weeks put him in third place only five points out of first place. Tim Van De Hei ran to a pair of feature wins and finished in a tie with Jay Matthias for fourth place. Rod Snellenberger rounded out the top five. The strong Street Stock division was paced by Travis Van Straten winning his first track title over the brother duo of Jamie and Jesse Colwell. James Tebon took the fourth place finish with Jeff Treml rounding out the top five. Van Straten was one of four drivers to win two features on the year. The top three Sport Truck drivers received trophies. Kevin Strebel won his second straight track title and led the way with six feature wins. Ed Danoff took two feature wins and finished second in the standings. Dave Davister also took two features and was third in the points. Rookies were announced in three divisions. Robert Waechter took top honors in the Modifieds with Jason Czarapata was crowned rookie in the Stock Car division. Jeff Treml took the honor in the Streets. The 2001 season will kick off a couple weeks earlier with an April 20 opener at the 1/3 mile clay oval. The weekly shows will again feature all four divisions with racing staring at 7 PM.
