Expo Speedway General Rules
Heat Races - 8 laps
Semi-Feature - 1 lap per number of cars, but not less than 8 or more than 10 laps. This
race will not be run with less than 4 cars.
Feature - 15 laps - This field will consist of 18 cars.
All lapped cars will line up at the rear of all restarts. One (1) spin in the heat, semi
or consy will result in disqualification from the event at flagman's discretion. A two
(2)-spin rule will be in effect for the feature. Flagman's decision will be final.
The Safety Inspector(s) will decide on rules with assistance from the Board members as
needed.
Anything not covered in these rules will be considered illegal unless otherwise approved
by the Board of Directors.
THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS HAS THE RIGHT TO INTERPRET AND EXECUTE THE FOLLOWING RULES AS THEY
SEE FIT FOR THE GOOD OF THE ASSOCIATION AND RACING IN GENERAL. IT WILL BE THE CAR OWNER
AND/OR DRIVERS RESPONSBILITY TO READ AND FOLLOW THE RULES IN THIS BOOK. IF YOU DO NOT
UNDERSTAND WHAT IS WRITTEN, PLEASE CONTACT A TRACK OFFICIAL FOR AN EXPLANATION.
1. Cars must be factory stock, no altercations - inspector discretion.
Minimum 108" wheelbase and two-wheel drive.
2. Engines must be of the same corporate family as the body. Motor mounts may be welded
and must be in the original position. Engines may be chained or strapped to restrict
movement. Must be stock appearing. No external modifications allowed. Engines must be able
to be used in a conventional passenger car with out alteration. Casting and fittings must
not be changed. No machine work on outside of engine. Single OEM carburetor (two or four
barrel) only. No Holley carburetors allowed. Cast iron intakes and exhaust only. No oil
coolers, NO ALUMINUM HEADS OR ALUMINUM ENGINE BLOCKS. Ignition system must remain stock.
No electric fuel pumps or belt drive pumps.
3. Must have 4 equal size D.O.T. street legal 70 series or taller tires, maximum tread
width of 7" and no softening allowed. No slicks, must be street legal tread depth.
Minimum 25 lb. air in all tires before race. Right front wheel must be aftermarket racing
type wheel with a maximum of two-inch offset. Right front wheel must also have one-inch
lug nuts, and the studs must stick out past the lug nuts.
4. Roll Cage A four point cage is and must be constructed of a required minimum of 1
¾" X 0.95 round tubing. No cast iron or exhaust tubing. No offset cages. There must
be a minimum of 4 bars in the driver's door and 2 bars passenger door. Steel plate
required in the driver's door, mounted on the outside protection bar. Plate must cover the
entire drivers door protection bar area. Minimum 1/8" thickness. The stock side door
panel must be removed and the door bars and protective plate must fit flush with the outer
skin. A radiator protection bar may be added outside the car body on the bumper and may be
constructed of 1 ¾" or smaller tubing and no wider than the front frame rails and no
higher than the hood. All 90-degree angles must be gusseted. All roll cages must provide
2" or more clearance, measured for the top of the roll cage to the top of the drivers
helmet and when strapped in, with the helmet on and in a driving position. Must have a
foot protection bar on drivers side made of same material as the rest of the roll cage.
Halo bar STRONGLY SUGGESTED.
5. All exterior chrome, headlights, taillights, exterior moldings, grills wheel weights
and mirrors must be removed. Windshield must be removed and replaced with screen and three
(3) vertical support bars.
6. All door handles, hood and trunk latches must be removed. Doors must be chained, bolted
or welded shut. Hood and trunk must be chained or pined.
7. Stock gas tank must be replaced with a maximum 8-gallon fuel tank mounted securely in
the trunk. Boat tanks and or fuel cells must be enclosed in a minimum 22 gauge steel box
and strapped with a minimum 1 inch wide steel strapping, two straps in each direction.
Fuel lines must remain under the floor with adequate protection if in the driver's
compartment, fuel line must be run through a continuous piece of conduit (no splicing) and
is sealed at both ends.
8. Must have a muffler.
9. After-market/racing type seat is highly recommended and mounted to the roll cage and
1/8" steel plated floor. (Aluminum high back racing seat must be bolted securely with
a minimum Grade 5, ½" minimum diameter bolts in a minimum of six (6) places. Four
(4) in the bottom of the seat and two (2) in the back). NO CARRIAGE BOLTS.
10. Five-point safety harness is mandatory. Lap and shoulder belts must be approved
snap-type release belt at least three (3) inches wide and securely fastened to the frame
and/or roll cage. A crotch or anti-submarine belt is mandatory, and must be a minimum of
two (2) inches wide. The shoulder belts must be mounted level with or slightly below the
driver's shoulders. At no time should the shoulder belts wrap around the top of the
drivers shoulders and mount to the floor.
11. Window net required. Large mesh type highly recommended. Net should release from the
top front corner with a seat belt snap and drop downward. Net should be up at all times
while on the track.
12. All cars are required to have adequate roll bar padding and approved fan shroud. The
center of the steering wheel should be padded.
13. Approved helmet with Snell 90 SA or newer sticker. A Snell 95 SA is recommended.
General condition of the helmet and safety strap subject to safety inspector approval. All
drivers must have sufficient eye protection while on the track. Goggles or shield are
mandatory. Snell 90 MA helmets require a head sock.
14. Approved fire/driver suits and neck collars are mandatory. Condition of the suit is
subject to safety inspection approval. Fire retardant gloves are mandatory, Fire retardant
shoes are recommended. All cars must have a fire extinguisher mounted with a metal bracket
within a drivers reach.
15. Car numbers must be clearly painted on both sided of the car and roof facing the
grandstand in bright or contrasting colors, at least 16 inches high and three (3) inches
wide. Numbers of legible size must also be placed of the front and rear of the car to aid
in line-ups. |
