MANITOWOC EXPO SPEEDWAY ANNOUNCES EMMERT CONSTRUCTION 'SHOTGUN BOUNTY'!
By Bill Schlei

June 17, 2002; Manitowoc, WI - The Manitowoc Co. Expo Speedway has announced a new partnership that should be of great interest to IMCA competitors and fans all over Wisconsin.

Emmert Construction of Manitowoc has teamed with the Expo Speedway to present the Emmert "Shotgun Bounty" Challenge.

Each week the pole sitter in both the IMCA Modified and Stock Car division will be presented with the challenge of starting from the rear of the field (the so-called "shotgun" spot) and, if they can finish as the winner they will receive an additional $500 from Emmert Construction on top of the winner's share of the purse.

If the pole sitter does not accept the challenge, it goes to the driver on the outside of the front row and will continue all the way to the sixth row.

The bounty is contingent on a minimum of 30 cars registered in the class on that night of racing which shouldn't be a problem considering that the winner's share would total $850.00 for the winning modified driver!

Not to be left out, a similar challenge will be extended to the IMCA Stock Cars with a bounty of $250.00 going to the winner under the same circumstances and conditions as the mods.

"This is a great thing for the drivers but an even better thing for the fans who will see some of the best battles anywhere." said track promoter Dave Gauger. "Emmert Construction has always been a strong supporter of racing. But to hold out an offer like this for every night of the season is unheard of. We could not be more pleased."

This should be exciting news for drivers like Mike Wedelstadt, Jared Seifert and Scott Mullen, all of whom have won features this year at Manitowoc from less than stellar starting spots.

In fact Wedelstadt has won two features this year and, with this type of cash up for grabs, there's no doubt he'll bring out the big guns as will many other teams in both divisions.

Manitowoc County Expo Speedway is located at the intersection of I43 and Hwy. 151 on the Manitowoc Expo Grounds. Races are weekly on Wednesday nights with gates open at 4:30 and racing getting underway at 7pm.

Admission is just $7 for adults, $5 for students 11-15 and 10 and under are free!
