MANITOWOC COUNTY EXPO RACEWAY ANNOUNCES PRACTICE DATE! By Bill Schlei

April 28, 2002; Manitowoc, WI - With track preparation nearly complete and the season opener less than one month away, Manitowoc Expo Speedway has announced an open practice date to kick-off 2002.

The track will open at 10 a.m. for inspection with the actual practice laps starting at 12 noon on Saturday, May 11th. Pit passes are $10 per person.

All types of race cars are welcome to attend the session including the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, Street Stocks and Hobby Stocks that will compete at Manitowoc this season.

The 1/3-mile clay oval should prove to be very fast according to promoter Dave Gauger.

"We've put a lot of effort into surface preparation and we believe the drivers will be happy with what we've done with the place."

Along with the improved track, Manitowoc will have some other new additions including new pit lighting and a new pit area concession stand.

Opening night will be Wednesday, May 22nd with M and R Racing Night at the Expo. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. with races getting under way at 7 p.m.
