The following rules are for the "Street Stock Division" for the 2002 calendar
year. Interpretation or amendment to these rules may be made at any time. The rules and/or
regulations set forth herein are designed to provide orderly conduct and to establish
minimum requirements for the racing events. These rules shall govern the condition of all
events. All participants are deemed to have complied with these rules upon participating
in these events. No expressed or implied warranty of safety shall result from publication
or compliance with these rules and/or regulations. They are intended as a guide for the
conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to
participants.
STREET STOCK REP SHALL BE EMPOWERED TO PERMIT MINOR DEVIATIONS FROM ANY SPECIFICATIONS
HEREIN OR TO IMPOSE ANY FURTHER RESRICTIONS THAT IN HIS OPINOIN DO NOT ALTER THE MINIMUM
ACCEPTABLE REQUIRMENTS. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM
ALTERATIONS OF SPECIFICATIONS. ANY INTERPRETATIONS OR DEVIATIONS OF THESE RULES ARE LEFT
TO THE STREET STOCK REP. HIS DECISION IS FINAL
Per Written Rules.
ELIGIBLE MODELS: 1960 or newer Sedans or hardtops. No Station wagons, convertibles,
Jeeps, Suburbans, vans, pick-up trucks, El Caminos, Rancheros, Camaros, Firebirds, or
similar vehicles will be allowed.
WHEEL BASE: 108" minimum, as listed by manufacturer. On your car, it must measure
within 1" of stock.
Frame: Must be stock. Frame may be reinforced for safety only. Design may not be
altered. Uni-body cars are okay and may be reinforced but must maintain the full uni-body
floor structure. Front to rear stub may be joined end-to-end with the same thickness steel
as stock frame. Consult the Street Stock Rep regarding the special requirements of a
uni-body type car. Frame must be stock factory frame as to body.
ROLL BARS: Four-point roll cages are required and must be constructed of a minimum
of 1 ¾" x .090 round steel tubing. NO cast iron pipe or exhaust tubing. NO offset
cages. Rear main cage hoop no further back than 41" from the center-most forward part
of the roof. There must be a minimum of 4 bars in the driver's door and should be mounted
on the outside protection bars, but on the inside of the body panel skin. Plate must cover
the entire driver's door protection bar area within minimum 1/8" thickness. The stock
steel door panels must be removed and the 4 doors bars and protective plate must fit flush
with the outer door skin. A radiator protection bar may be added outside the car body on
the bumper and may be constructed of 1 ¾" or smaller tubing and be no wider that the
frame rails, with a single bar added to it. Both right and left vent windows support bars
must be added in for protection. Maximum bumper corner support bars are 2. Left foot
protection bar mandatory between the main hoop and the frame. NO CAR MUST WEIGH UNDER
3,400 LBS.
SUSPENSION: Only stock design components may be used. Springs may NOT be cut
or altered. NO spring spacers or lowering blocks. NO screw-like devices allowed. Rear
springs must have one pig-tail. Ballast may be added but not mounted in the driver's
compartment. Ballast must be painted white and include car number and division on it. Loss
of ballast will be grounds for immediate two-week minimum suspension. All ballasts must
have two ½" bolts holding it down. Stock mount shocks, front and rear; no adjustable
shocks. Springs, shocks, and all suspension must be in stock OEM location and stock
mounts.
BODIES: Stock factory OEM steel bodies only. Any body repairs must not alter the
stock appearance. Must measure within 1" of stock OEM measurement. Bumper must be
stock steel. Bumper ends must be bolted or welded to the body (not trimmed or cut) to
prevent hooking of another car. Exterior rub rails may be added, but must be no
larger than 1 ½" tubing. The ends must be trimmed at a 45 degree angle and contain
no sharp edges and must be capped. Rear rub rails must not extend on the outside of the
bumper. Rub rails must not exceed 108". The rear quarter panels behind the wheels may
be reinforced with steel tubing. The reinforcement must be securely welded to the frame.
Radiator and fuel cell protection hoop allowed (subject to approval). Hoop cannot extend
outside the body of the car. Interior body panels that are secured with bolts or screws
may be removed. Stock interior floor, trunk floor, and rear inner fender wells must remain
in place as much as possible in stock location and stock appearance. A good rear firewall
must be installed. The full stock front firewall must remain in place and any holes must
be patched and sealed. If your floor is badly rusted or has been removed, you must patch
or replace it in a factory appearing manner with 20-gauge (0.0359") thick steel
plate. Floor must remain intact. Must be firewall below rear window with 20-gauge steel.
All interior sheeting must provide for the easy exit of the driver through either side of
the vehicle. All cars must have wrecker hooks front and rear, looped chain is okay mounted
on outside of bumper for easy access. A small rear spoiler will be allowed. Doors must be
securely welded or bolted. All rust damage must be patched with 20-gauge steel. Stock hood
and trunk latches and hinges must be removed and replaced with hood pins. No hood scoops
or holes allowed in hood. Trunk floor may be removed only to install approved fuel cell
between frame rails. Must try to remain stock design floor. Windshield must be replaced by
screen; stock OEM windshield post must be in stock position. The screen must cover the
full width of the car and be constructed of ½" square screen. No common house-type
window screen allowed. Screen must be properly bolted, reinforced, strong enough to resist
the impact of flying debris, and in stock window place. Stock plastic grills must be
removed and replaced with screen or expanded metal. All chrome, plastic trim, and mirrors
must be removed. Interior sheeting MUST NOT obstruct access for vehicle inspections.
After-market front nose pieces or stock appearing noses only. NO homemade or plastic roll
noses allowed. Any body repairs must not alter stock appearance or stock measurements.
INTERIORS: All flammable material must be removed. Dashboard removal is mandatory. Stock
seats must be removed and after-market, racing-type seat must be installed, as per
manufacturer's requirements. Only aluminum racing seats will be allowed. Safety seats must
be mounted to the roll cage or frame. Steering wheels and columns may be altered to
improve safety. NO quick steers or interior mirrors.
DRIVELINES: Must remain stock automatic transmission with stock working converter. In all
gears, CAR MUST IDLE FORWARD AND REVERSE AND MOVE BOTH DIRECTIONS. Locked, welded or
posi-traction rears allowed.
BRAKES: Must be stock in stock location and stock for your year of car. MUST USE ONE stock
pedal in stock location. Stock master cylinder in stock location. NO SHUT-OFF DEVICES OR
AFTER-MARKET PROPORTIONING VALVE!!! NO PEAR DISK BRAKES!!!
EXHAUST: Single or dual pipes are allowed. All cars will have approved down or out
spouts that extend behind firewall. Cars must not exceed noise level. Drivers will be
notified if in violation.
FUEL TANKS: Stock tanks must be replaced with an approved fuel-racing cell. All
tanks must be safely mounted in the trunk area as far forward as possible and between
frame rails. No plumber's strap. Fuel lines must remain under the floor with adequate
protection. Fuel cell must be enclosed in a minimum 18-gauge steel box and strapped with a
minimum 1" wide steel strapping (two straps in each direction). Minimum clearance to
ground is 12" from bottom of tank. A portion of the trunk floor the size of the fuel
cell may be removed to facilitate installation of the fuel cell. This does not allow you
to remove the entire floor. A rollover check valve is mandatory.
WHEELS: Maximum width of 8". All wheels to be steel of either full racing
design or 8-spoke, wagon-wheel type. All wheels must have oversized lug nuts. Minimum
wheel stud diameter is ½". No spacers, trim rings, or mud plugs.
TIRES: DOT-approved 70 or 75 series tires only. Maximum size L-70 or P-255/70. DOT and
original tire size markings must be visible upon inspection. No truck, snow, or aggressive
mud tire marketed as LT-70, LT-75, etc. Tire may be grooved. Only other tire allowed will
be an approved Goodyear tire. See Rep for approved number.
BATTERY/ELECTRICAL: Battery must be moved to the driver's compartment or trunk area
and must be enclosed in a marine-type battery box or metal box. Cables must be color-coded
as follows: RED + and BLACK -. The ignition switch must be clearly marked on/off and must
be in easy reach of the driver and safety crew. Top of battery box must be marked with
positive and negative signs for safety crew purposes.
SAFETY EQUIPMENT: A 5-point racing seat belt harness is mandatory. 3" lap and
shoulder harness and a 2" crotch strap is mandatory. The seat belt should be mounted
to the roll cage at a 45-degree angle to the floor. The shoulder belt must be mounted with
or slightly below the driver's shoulders. At no time should the shoulder belts wrap around
the top of the driver's shoulders and mount to the floor or cage. Drivers must wear an
approved helmet with a Snell 90 SA or newer sticker. A Snell 95 SA is recommended. Snell
90 MA helmets require a head sock. SFI-approved driver's suit is mandatory. Full shoes
required. Nomex-type suggested. NECK BRACES AND GLOVES ARE MANDATORY. Drive shaft must be
painted white. A 360 degree steel drive shaft hoop located with in the first 6"
behind the front U-joint and bolted through the floor is required. A properly mounted fire
extinguisher with metal mounts, not plastic mounts or tape, must be installed within easy
reach of the driver. All cars shall have operational brakes on all 4 wheels. Window net is
mandatory. It is suggested a large- type mesh be used. Net should release from the top
front corner with a seat-belt type snap and drop downward. All cars required to have
adequate roll bar padding and an approved fan shroud. Two throttle return springs are
mandatory on carburetor. It is MANDATORY that seat belts be mounted to the cage or frame
(not the floor). No plastic tank radiator.
GENERAL APPEARANCE: All cars should be painted a light or bright color. Numbers will be
assigned by the track. Numbers must be at least 16" high and 3" wide and must be
on the door and roof. Numbers must also be on front and rear of car 4" high or
larger. An 8-inch letter will be placed behind the number (1st letter of drivers last
name). A triple digit number will not be allowed unless approved by the track. All cars
must be neatly painted and lettered. No spray-bomb numbers. Numbers must be in contrasting
color. NO SILVER OR METALLIC NUMBERS. Officials may disqualify any car that does not
project a neat, professional image. It is the driver's/owner's responsibility to ensure
that the scorer can read the car number without difficulty. Track management will make
every effort to prevent duplicate car numbers. It is the driver's responsibility to
resolve any conflict with regard to duplication of your car number. You must verify with
the Speedway each year for your number.
ENGINES: Must be in the same corporate family as the body. Must be in full stock
motor mounts and in the original position. Engines must be chained or strapped to restrict
movement. Must be stock appearing. No external modifications allowed. Engines must be able
to be used in a conventional passenger car without alteration. No machine work on outside
of engine. Single OEM carburetor (2 or 4-barrel) only. No Holley carburetors allowed. Cast
iron intakes and exhaust only. No oil coolers. Aluminum radiators optional. Ignition
systems must remain stock. No electrical fuel pumps or belt drive pump. No aluminum water
pump; aluminum pulleys optional. NO ADAPTER PLATES! (2-barrel carbs/2 barrel intakes,
4-barrel carb/4 barrel intake only) No MSD style boxes allowed. Only thing allowed between
carburetor and intake is one stock gasket.
RULES: Any car found not to be within the rules may (or may not) be allowed to race
that night, it is illegal and shall have one week to repair and get re-inspected before
competing again. If it is not repaired, it does not compete and loses all track points for
the year. The Rep may pick, at random, at any time and car for inspection. This also
includes checking the top six in the feature. If the car is found to be illegal after the
feature, it will lose all money for that evening and points for the year and also two
week's suspension first-time. Engine setback rule will be measured axle tube to bell
housing. All GM's 73-77, 95 inches, on 79 or older LTD II or T-Bird, 101 inches, plus or
minus 1", all 4 door GM cars 2 inches longer.
ENGINE CLAIM PROCEDURE
1. $350 cash on engine exchange claim. $50 cash goes to wrecker for pulling engines out of
both cars. The driver being claimed has the right to choose or refuse all claims.
2. Claim does not include: flex plate, carburetor, starter, motor mounts, sending units
and switches for oil pressure and water temperature, fan and pulleys, dip stick, water and
fuel pump, distributor and wires, thermostat and housing, exhaust manifolds.
3. First four position finishers (whether running or not) are subject to engine exchange
claim by any other driver finishing fifth and lower in the feature and still running
competitively at the end of the feature which is defined as running on the same lap as the
fourth place car. The engine will go to the lowest qualified driver in case of multiple
claims on the same engine.
4. The driver making the claim must drive his race car under it's own power, directly to
the claim area after the feature and must make a claim or lose all money and points for
the night.
5. All drivers must stay next to their cars in the claiming area.
6. Claims must be made within minutes of the end of the feature race.
7. Claims must be made to a track official and $350 cash must be paid upon declaration of
intention to claim.
8. Only the driver may claim the engine, and only the driver may agree to exchange or
refuse the engine exchange. Only the driver is allowed in the claim area.
9. Driver making claim must go directly to the claim area. He/she must not leave the track
surface, stop his/her vehicle or consult with anyone else. One cool down lap is allowed.
10. The top 4 drivers must proceed directly to the claim area. One cool down lap is
allowed. Drivers must remain in the claim area with his/her car with the engine shut off
after being cooled down or until directed otherwise by the track official.
11. If any of the top 4 finishers leave the track with out going to the claim area, this
car and driver will be treated as a refusal to exchange.
12. First exchange or no exchange by driver being claimed is binding.
13. First refusal to exchange will result in forfeiture of all cash and points from the
feature. Any trophy earned in the feature plus all track points for the year will be lost.
Any driver refusing to exchange the engine, when claimed within the rules and regardless
of reinstatement with the track, forfeits his right to claim the engine for 12 months from
the date of his refusal. First refusal to exchange will result in the driver being
suspended from any competition at the track for 30 days from date of refusal. Second
refusal to exchange will result in the driver being suspended from competition at the
track for 12 months from date of refusal.
14. Any driver found to be claiming an engine for anyone other than himself will lose all
track points for the year and will be suspended for 14 days.
15. All claimed engines must be removed from the car at the track. Once removal has begun,
the exchange is final.
16. Any sabotage to the claimed engine will result in saboteur's suspension from track
competition for one year to date.
17. Anyone owning more then one car cannot make a claim if one of his/hers finishes in the
top four.
18. Any driver using device which is intended to deceive other drivers including services
that squirt oil into or on the to the engine which gives the outward appearance of a blown
engine will result in the forfeit or all money and trophy earned in the event, loss of all
track points, suspension from the track events for 14 calendar days form the date of the
infraction.
19. No driver may claim any other driver more than once during the calendar year.
20. No driver may claim more than two engines per year. After opening night, driver may
not be allowed to claim on first two nights at track, however, driver may claim during
his/her third straight night of racing. |
