Eswein tops big Tuesday Night special at Marshfield!

June 8, 1999; Marshfield, WI: -  The MACCI Business After 5 was a big hit as many Marshfield Area business people came to see NASCAR driver Kevin Cywinski and the races tonight. Gary Back of Vesper set fast time in the CWRA Late Model division. Cale Laessig of Marshfield in the CWSSA Super Stocks and Randy Bargender in the 1-Man Cruisers.

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Kevin Cywinski was on hand to compete during the program.

In the CWRA Late Model feature Tom Reffner captured the early lead with Joe Krzykowski and Keith Witt at his heels. Witt took second from Krzykowski on lap four only to lose it to Mark Eswein on lap seven. A spin in turn two caused a caution.

Shortly before the race resumed, leader Tom Reffner made a pit stop, leaving the lead with Eswein. Mark Mackesy took third from Krzykowski on lap 12. Lap 21 Mackesy passed Witt for second. Eswein won, Mackesy second, Witt third, Krzykowski fourth and Rocky Breezer fifth.

Brian Stroik led the first lap of the CWSSA Super Stock feature until John Bell took the lead. Bell held on for three laps when Jason Szymkowiak took over. Stroik was running third but lap seven Merle Weinfurter and Shawn Stelzer passed him.

Stelzer took third from Weinfurter on lap ten. Stelzer and Weinfurter then passed Bell by lap 14. A spin on a re-start put both Weinfurter and Cale Laessig to the back of the pack. Judd Brandl took over second on the re-start until Stelzer passed him on lap 17. Szymkowiak won, Stelzer second, Brandl third, Bell fourth and Allan Sankey fifth.

Rodney Feltz was the winner of the 1-Man feature, Doug Becker placed second and Randy Bargender third.

6899a.jpg (14413 bytes) Rodney Feltz and Fran Esser continue to dominate the 2-man Cruiser division. They have won the last five events held on the big half-mile paved oval. Feltz recently began racing the 1-man Cruiser division and took the feature win on this evening also.

Winners of the 2-Man Cruiser event were Rodney Feltz and Fran Esser. Second was taken by Jon Vayda and Rick Anderson, third by Doug Becker and Chad Simone.

Budweiser & WAXX 104.5 are the sponsors of this Saturday's events. Divisions racing are CWRA Late Models, CWSSA Super Stocks,  1-Man Cruisers, 2-Man Cruisers plus Mid-America Super Trucks. Time trials at 6 p.m., racing begins at 7:30.
