Back and Back routine continues in Late Model action at Marshfield!

July 24, 1999; Marshfield, WI: - It was a sweltering day for racing here in Marshfield. As the drivers qualified for position Brian Back grabbed the top spot with an 18.365 in the Late Models.

Cale Laessig in the Super Stocks and Randy Bargender in the 1-Man Cruisers.

72499a.jpg (15989 bytes) Gary Back scored his fourth CWRA Late Model victory of the season at Marshfield Speedway.  Gary beat his son Brian to the line in this weeks action on the half mile paved oval.  Gary who is second in the current standings is beginning to cut into the point lead held by Rory Melbinger.

Mike Brahmstedt took the early lead in the CWRA Late Model feature. A spin on the first lap sent Bobby Stolze running second to the back of the pack. Rory Melbinger was moving through the field and captured second on lap eight. A spin on lap nine sent him to the back of the pack as well.

With Brahmstedt still leading the race Gary Back and Brian Back had advanced to second and third. As the half-way signal was given, Gary Back took over the lead. On lap 17 Gary's son Brian Back took second from Brahmstedt. Gary Back went home with the win, Brian Back second and Brahmstedt third.

He broke the streak!  Gary Wosick (#61) found the fast line around Marshfield's big half-mile paved oval breaking Judd Brandl's win streak.  Brandl had won three straight Super Stock main events. 72499b.jpg (18658 bytes)

Gary Wosick held the lead in the CWSSA Super Stock feature with Wes Krause and Scott Hamel challenging him. Krause and Hamel battled back and forth over second position. On lap nine Merle Weinfurter took third from Hamel. Lap 14 Shawn Stelzer passed Weinfurter for third. A spin on lap 18 took Stelzer out of the race. Weinfurter came back for the white flag lap in second. Wosick won, Weinfurter second and Krause third.

72499c.jpg (11512 bytes) Each week more and more drivers are participating in the 1-man Cruiser division.  Doug Becker (#77)  who was running the class since it's inception this season used his knowledge to win the feature event.

Ric Anderson held the lead for the first two laps of the 1-Man Cruiser feature. Don Tieman Jr. held it for lap three until Doug Becker took over on lap four. Fast timer Randy Bargender was running  second but couldn't pass Becker. Becker won, Bargender second and Anderson third.

Brian Weinfurter won the Super Stock Mechanics race. Nate Briski won the 1-Man Cruiser Mechanics race.

It's them again!  Rodney Feltz and Fran Esser (#66) have dominated the 2-main Cruiser division since the beginning of the year here at Marshfield. 72499d.jpg (13392 bytes)

Rod Feltz and Fran Esser won the 2-Man Cruiser event. Chuck Green and Chris Sternweis second and the team of Paul Hasenhorl and Scott Strigel took home third.

Next Saturday is Snap On Tools night. We have now gone with a Sunday rain date in the event that the races are cancelled Saturday

Marshfield Super Speedway is a half-mile paved oval, located three miles west of Marshfield, WI on county highway H.
