Melbinger scores sixth CWRA Late Model win of season!! |
August 21, 1999; Marshfield, WI: - Brian Back, Judd Brandl and Doug Becker set the pace for the night in their respective classes.
Gary Back beat out Brian in the dash and points leader Cale Laessig bested everyone in the Super Stock dash.

John Frazier passed pole sitter Rocky Breezer for the initial lead in the CWRA Late Model feature. Breezer and Bobby Stolze were vying for position. Breezer was holding the inside lane with Stolze trying to get by on the outside. On lap 12 Breezer and Stolze switched lanes and got into a spin. Both cars went off the asphalt and ended up on the top of the embankment and taking them out of the race.

On the re-start, points leader Rory Melbinger took over the lead. Frazier fell into second followed by Mike Brahmstedt. Gary Back passed Brahmstedt for third on lap 16. On lap 21, car troubles took Back out of the race and Dean LaPointe moved into third. Melbinger won, Frazier second and LaPointe third.

In the CWSSA Super Stock feature, Matt Wisz held the lead for the first six laps until John Bell took over. Merle Weinfurter made his way from an eighth place start into second on lap eight. Fast timer Judd Brandl passed Weinfurter for second on lap 15. On the checkered flag lap Cale Laessig passed Weinfurter, taking away with third. Bell won, Brandl second and Laessig third.
Robert Detwiler led laps one through five of the 1-Man Cruiser feature. Ric Anderson led the next two laps until Doug Becker took the lead for good. Becker won, Anderson second and Don Tieman third.

The team of Fran Esser and Rodney Feltz took home the win once again after being out of the win for two weeks. Jon Vayda and Pete Stargardt placed second and Todd Neiter and Mike Gwidt third.
This Saturday is Wheeler Chev-Geo-Olds-Pontiac-Cadillac & Miller Beer Season Championships. It will mark the final point night of the 1999 season at Marshfield Speedway. Racing includes CWRA Late Models, CWSSA Super Stock, Great North Legends, 1-Man Cruisers and 2- Man Cruisers. Time trials at 6 p.m., 7:30 racing.
Racing however will continue on September 4th, with the Carquest / WDEZ Race of Champions, and racing will again take place on September 11th with the CARQUEST Auto Parts inviatational. On that veening the $22,000 Dodge Dakota Pace truck will be given away to some lucky winner!
Divisions racing are CWRA Late Models, CWSSA Super Stocks, 1- Man Cruisers and 2-Man Cruisers in each event. Time Trials at 6 p.m., racing 7:30 p.m. Marshfield Super Speedway is a half-mile paved oval, located three miles west of Marshfield, WI on county hwy H.
