July 8, 2000; Marshfield, WI - It was an overcast night of racing for the Copps Food Center, WDLB & WOSQ Mid-Season Championship. Mark Mackesy took home his fifth feature win in the CARQUEST Super Late Models. Cale Laessig grabbed the top spot in the CARQUEST Super Stock feature. In the 1-Man Cruisers Glen Bargender took the checkered.
Mike Brahmstedt jumped into the lead from outside the pole at the start of the Super Late Model feature. Rick Grunden held second spot for three laps until sixth place starter Mark Mackesy passed Grunden. Grunden fell back to third, and then to fourth when Judd Brandl grabbed third. Lap 13 Mackesy got by Brahmstedt for the lead and three laps later Brandl passed Brahmstedt for third. The next lap Gary Back passed Brahmstedt for third. Chris Wimmer was quickly moving from the back of the pack to the front and broke into the top five on lap 19. Several laps later Wimmer passed Brahmstedt for fourth. Brandl and Back were battling for second and lap 23 Back got the position. Mackesy won, Back second, Brandl third, Wimmer fourth and Jeff Weinfurter fifth. The first two laps of the Super Stock feature were led by Brian Stroik. Newcomer Dave Lawrence led the next four laps. Points leader Cale Laessig who started on the outside of the second to last row took over the lead on lap seven.
Lawrence continued to run in second and Allan Sankey and Merle Weinfurter battled back and forth over third. Sankey got ahead of Weinfurter and then passed Lawrence for second. The next lap Weinfurter got by Lawrence for third. Laessig won, Sankey second, Weinfurter third, Shawn Stelzer fourth and Johnny Bell fifth.
In the 1-Man Cruiser race, Scott Rueth led the first two laps until Matt Horn took the lead. Lap six the new leader was Glen Bargender with Rob Detwiler in second. Bargender won, Detwiler second, Dale Koplien third, Duwayne Davis fourth and Horn fifth.
Wisconsin Rapids Pat Bean made his return from injury a triumphant one with a heat race win in front of eleven other cycles. Hatleys Steve Kasten came from the back row in the six lap heat to place second on his SK Service Yamaha 600. For the ten lap final Bean led the first five laps with Kasten taking over the top spot on lap six, just as Big Falls Lee Johnson fell by himself in turn three. The race was stopped and it became a four-lap shootout with the single file restart. Kasten held onto the top spot, while Beaver Dams Eric Mischler shot through the pack to take second place. Appletons Shannon Reimer jockeyed his 250 Kawasaki into third place.
