Back bests field in Super Lates, Schultz scores in Super Stocks!

August 19, 2000; Marshfield, WI - It was a clear night for racing on the sponsored Automated Products Inc Night. The CARQUEST Super Late Model feature saw Gary Back grab the top spot. In the CARQUEST Super Stock feature Larry Schultz took home his first feature win. The 1-Man Cruiser division saw Doug Becker take the checkered.

81900e.jpg (19505 bytes) He's Back!  Gary Back, who won several Late Model feature events last season at Marshfield Super Speedway has been making limited appearances during the 2000 season.  This evening he was Back in victory lane for the first time this year.

The CARQUEST Super Late Model Feature saw Pete Kemp taking the lead on the first lap with Wayne Breitenfeldt in second and Rick Grunden in third. On lap 3 Grunden took over the lead and Monte Gress moved into second with Mark Mackesy moving into third. On the next lap Mackesy took over second spot and Judd Brandl moved into third.

On lap 8 Brandl moved into second putting Mackesy into third. A caution was brought out on lap 12 putting Brandl in first with Gary Back in second and Mackesy in third. On lap 16 Scott Field moved up to grab the third spot. In the end there was a race between Back and Brandl for the top spot with Back coming in first, Brandl in second, Field in third, Mackesy in forth, and Breitenfeldt in fifth.

In the CARQUEST Super Stock Feature, Steve Borski took the early lead with Brian Stroik and Larry Schultz close behind. By lap four Larry Schultz moved into the top spot and never looked back. There was a race for second spot until Cale Laessig took over on lap 7 and held on until the end. The third spot shuffled between Allen Sankey and Merle Weinfurter until Sankey took over and kept it. The top five were Schultz, Laessig, Sankey, Weinfurter, and Johnny Bell.

81900c.jpg (14324 bytes) Mini-Stocks, maxi action!  John Froelich (#41) powered home to victory in his Pinto during a special program put on by area Mini-Stock drivers.

The Cenex Mini-Stock feature saw Jon Ulrich lead the first lap. Lap two was led by Bob Gereau, and then lap three was led by Brad Dupee. Lap four your leader changed again, this time it was Chris Boykins. He held the lead until lap nine when John Froelich overtook him. Froelich won, Boykins second, Mark May third, Steve Cottrell fourth and Brad Dupee fifth.

A win and a tie!?!  Doug Becker (#77) continued his win skein in the 1-man Cruiser division and tonight's feature victory put him into a tie atop the point standings with Duwayne Davis. 81900d.jpg (13515 bytes)

In the 1-man cruiser feature Glen Bargender took an early lead with Dale Koplien in second and Gary Schallock in third. On lap5 Schallock moved into second with Don Tieman moving into third. On lap 11 Doug Becker took over third, putting Tieman in forth. On the last lap Becker came up from third to take over the lead. In the end, it was Becker in first, Bargender in second, Schallock in third, Tieman in forth, and Lester Kuehn in fifth.

In the 2-Man Cruiser division the checkered went to Tim Firkus & Greg Firkus.
Winners of the Powder Puff races were, Late Models-Marsha Grunden, Super Stocks-Kim Elgersma, Mini-Stocks-Tory Froelich, 1-Man Cruisers-Joanna McKinney, and 2-Man Cruisers-Lisa Luedtke and Jolene Pernsteiner.

Tonight’s Wal-Mart bike winner was Eric Langman of Palm Desert California.
