Kasperek Edges Waldman in Exciting Marshfield Super Speedway Enduro!

September 16, 2000; Marshfield, WI - Mike Kasperek of Clintonville, captured another Midwest Enduro Stock Car Series victory as he edged out John Waldman Jr. to the win during the running of the Severt's Automotive 250. After being down by two laps early, the 1997 Series Champion Kasperek made a late charge and used his experience to take the win.

Kasperek was the overall winner and first in thc "A" class payoff over Waldman. In the "B" class it was Jeremy Bloomberg capturing his second consecutive win over Marty Sommers and the "C" class was taken by Erik Pierce over Dale Brandt, Kasperek won $700 for his efforts with Bloomberg and Pierce receiving $400 and $250 respectively.

In the Marshfield Super Speedway 2-man cruiser action it was Scott Strigel and Paul Hasenhorl taking the win over Tim and Greg Firkus,

Tim Braunsky got the 60 car field rolling from his pole position with Charlie Pinkalla and Ralph Fogel set to do battle from their front row starting positions. Fogel and Pinkalla quickly pulled away from Braunsky to move to the front of the class. Fogel and Pinkalla's triumph for the top spot was short lived however as Ken Smart forged ahead by lap 25 followed by Waldman, Kasperek, Jeff Meulemans and Bloomberg to round out the top five. Smart was forced off the track on lap 30 and Kasperek was spun a few circuits later moving Waldman to the front. Waldman soon set a torrid pace and by the first refheling pit stop on lap 52 only Meulemans was on the same lap as the leader.

An aggressive Waldman led the field the next fifty circuits around tho 1/2 mile paved oval up to the next refueling stop on lap 104 by a comlortable one lap margin over runner up Meulemans. Some of Waldmans aggressive racing tactics were being closly watched by series officials but Waldman was not warned of his actions. Waldman however, still was the car to beat and still was setting a blistering pace. By lap 150, Smart moved into the second position followed by Kasperek, Meulemans and Marie Stella.

Smart, after making a move to go back on to the lead lap, broke the rear end on his '76 Monte Carlo and ended his chances on lap 164. Kasperek also made up a lap on the leader at that time and by the last refueling pit stop on lap 204 he and Waldrnan were thc only two cars on the lead lap. With Kasperek now having a chance for the win, Waidman had his hands full of the veteran driver. Kasperek was on Waldmans rear bumver near the 230 lap marker and the two went back and forth for the lead during the final circuits with Kasperek moving out for good by lap 240 and on to victory in the running of the "Severt's Automotive 250",
