Sauter Jr., scores in "MACCI Business After 5" Special at Marshfield!

June 12, 2001; Marshfield, WI: - The rain held off for the annual MACCI Business After 5, here at the Half-Mile. Brian Back drove a quick lap for fast time in the Super Late Models. Points leader Russ Weiler set fast time in the Legends division and Josh Elmhorst in the 1-Man Cruisers.

Jim Sauter Jr. (#5) left, scored his second Super Late Model feature victory of the season.  Sauter Jr., won his first career Late Model feature triumph just a couple weeks ago.

Larry Scholl and Brian Jensen (#7) teamed up in 2-Man Cruiser action, taking the victory this evening.

Jay VanDerGeest led the first two laps of the Super Late Model feature. On the second lap Wayne Mackesy spun in turns one and two, bringing out the caution. Jim Sauter Jr. took the lead from VanDerGeest for lap three. Jeff Weinfurter also got by VanDerGeest for second.

Rory Melbinger moved up to the third spot for lap eight. Lap ten Brian Back grabbed third from Melbinger. Those two battled for a few laps, Back held onto to third, until he was forced to pull into the pits on lap 18. When the race re-started Sauter continued to lead, Weinfurter second, and Dean LaPointe up to third. At the checkered it was Sauter, Weinfurter, LaPointe, Melbinger, and VanDerGeest.

In the Legends feature, Dan McGiveron led the first two laps. Eric Lokemoen led lap three. Jon Lewerer led the next four laps. Dave Keays led lap eight, Lewer lap nine, and then Keays again lap ten. Gary LaMonte and Josh Schoenick made their way from the fifth row to the front, and Russ Weiler broke into the top five on lap 17. Keays won, LaMonte second, Schoenick third, Lewerer fourth and Weiler fifth.

Rodney Feltz led almost the entire 1-Man Cruiser feature. Travis Zvolena worked his way from a last place start into the lead for the white flag lap. As Zvolena and Feltz made their way through turns one and two, they got tangled and wrecked. Both would have had to go to the back, but Feltz graciously took the blame for the accident, which gave Zvolena back the win. Rob Detwiler took second, Josh Elmhorst third, Don Tieman fourth, and Glen Bargender fifth.

The team of Larry Scholl and Brian Jensen won the 2-Man Cruiser race. Jason Kay and Cory Steczynski took home second, and Dewey Meyer and Rick Mason Sr. third.

The Wal-Mart bicycle winner was Tim Anderson of Marshfield. Also awarded was a scooter donated by Badgerland Auto Sales, the winner was Seth Karl of Roseville.

This Saturday's events are sponsored by Thomas Electric. Grandstand gates open at

5 p.m., qualifying at 6 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30. Divisions racing are Super Late Models, CWSSA Super Stocks, Motorcycles, 1-Man Cruisers and 2-Man Cruisers.
