Mike Budleski earns first Marshfield win of season at Marshfield!

August 8, 1998; Marshfield, WI: - Father and son, Merle and Jeff Weinfurter set fat time in their respective Super Stock and CWRA Late Model divisions while Marv Flick head a clean sweep in the Pure Stock class tonight on the big-half mile paved oval.

The CWRA Late Model feature began with Mike Budleski in the lead. As the race progressed, fast timer Jeff Weinfurter and Keith Witt moved up through the field. Gary Back, who started in last place, moved his way into the top ten by lap 7.

On lap 16, Back had moved up to sixth taking the spot from Rex Rossier, however time ran out and he was unable to move up any further. The field was close at the checkered but Budleski held on for the win, rookie Brian Suebert in his best run of the season claimed second, Brian Back took third, Witt was fourth and Weinfurter nabbed fifth.

John Bell was the lead for the first three laps of the CWSSA Super Stock feature, but he couldn't hold off Gary Wosick. As Wosick and Bell batteled it out, Judd Brandl, Merle Weinfurter, Allan Sansky and Andy Simonis made their way through the field. Wosick would hold onto the lead and take the win with Brandl in second, point leader Weinfurter tin third, Sansky fourth and Simonis rounding out the top five finishers.

Halfway through the Pure Stock feature, fast timer Marv Flick pass Curt Blenker for the lead. Brian Stroik followed Flick but could not maneuver around Blenker. Flick won and completed a clean sweep of the evening, Blenker was second, Stroik third and Kevin Fisher was fourth.

Winners of the Cruiser event were John Dupee Jr. and Kevin Dupee. The Traget giveaway winner was Ashley Schlapper of Stevens Point. The winner of the Super Stock mechanics race was Keith Wosick. The winner of the Pure Stock mechanics race was Don Kawleski.

It is a busy week of racing next week at Marshfield Speedway, with Dick Trickle Night this coming Tuesday evening, August 11th. Dick Trickle will be at the raceway signing autographs on the special program. The evening will feature a full show of CWRA Late Models, CWSSA Super Stocks, Pure Stock and Cruisers. Regular Saturday night racing will continue next Saturday night. Miller Time Trials at set to begin at 5:30 p.m., with racing action getting underway at 7:00 p.m.
