Bobby Turzinski tops "Dick Trickle Night" Special
at Marshfield Super Speedway!

August 11, 1998; Marshfield, WI: -  Bobby Turzinski used a good starting position to get the early lead and hold off the competition to top the CWRA Late Model division on this special evening of racing in which, Winston Cup driver Dick Trickle, was in attendance to sign autographs.

marsh9816a.jpg (15787 bytes) Bobby Turzinski took home the checkered flag in CWRA Late Model action on a special Tuesday Night program.  Winston Cup star and former CWRA standout Dick Trickle was on hand at Marshfield Speedway.  Turzinski a veteran of area short track racing for nearly 25 years raced against Trickle when Trickle ran the CWRA circuit in the late 1970's.

Turzinski started on the outside of row two and moved by pole-sitter Pete Kempf on lap five for the lead and quickly established a six-car length advantage.  Keith Witt got by Kempf on lap eight and Jeff Weinfurter along with Brian Back dropped Kempf further down the standings on lap nine as they all set their sights on the leader Turzinski.

marsh9816b.jpg (14855 bytes) Keith Witt turned in a solid performance winning the CWRA Late Model trophy dash.  He also set the fifth fastest time of the evening and later roared to a fourth place finish in the feature event.

On lap 17, Witt got loose on the front straight surrendering second to Weinfurter who brought Back along with him.  However time ran out before Weinfurter could reel in the eventual winner Turzinski.

The point challenger!  Judd Brandl currently sits in second place in the CWSSA Super Stock standings at Marshfield Super Speedway.  He has been chasing Merle Weinfurter for much of the season and tonight by setting fast time and winning the feature he managed to close the gap a bit. marsh9816c.jpg (14215 bytes)

Pole-sitter David Pagels held the lead in the Super Stock feature for 17 of the 20 laps but was unable to hold off the charge of fast-timer Judd Brandl, who whizzed by on the outside of turn four to complete lap 18.  Tim Plowman followed close behind moving into second, but Brandl was just too fast on this evening and won by five car lengths.

Shawn Stelzer had the lead from his second row starting position by the end of lap one, but fast-timer, Marv Flick was close behind and moving in.   When Flick pulled to the outside on lap four, the pair ran side-by-side for the next three laps with Flick finally completing the pass for the lead.  Flick held on to take the win.
