| Son and father finish one-two in CWRA Late Model action at Marshfield! |
August 15, 1998; Marshfield, WI: - With a full show on the slate as well as the Motorcycles as an added attraction for the last time this season there was lots of racing action for the fans to enjoy.
Gary Back came to the track late and beat out all the other Late Models setting fast time. Judd Brandl set fast time in the Super Stocks and Marv Flick topped the Pure Stocks.

| Jeremy Lepak turned in some solid performances this season, but until this evening he didn't post a feature win. Tonight he passed his father for the lead and then beat him to the finish line to record his first CWRA Late Model feature win of 1998 at Marshfield Super Speedway. | |
Larry Lepak grabbed the early lead but couldn't hold back his son Jeremy who passed him on lap eighteen of the twenty lap feature event. Pete Kempf and Rory Melbinger battled it out for third, but as Jeremy moved through the field, fast time Gary Back was also moving up following in his tire tracks. At the finish Jeremy Lepak held off his father Larry for his first feature win of the 1998 season. Back stormed to third ahead of Kempf and Melbinger.

Non-stop winner!! The CWSSA Super Stocks put on an awesome show, running their feature event from green to checkered without interruption for the third time in 1998. Cale Laessig was the man on the move catching race leader Matt Wisz with six laps to go in the race. Laessig took the lead and the win in the event. |
Tonight the Super Stocks ran their third green to checkered feature race this season. Matt Wisz started on the pole and held everyone off until lap 14 when Cale Laessig passed him for the lead. Wisz fell into second with John Bell running third, Chris Grosiber fourth and Allan Sansky fifth. Judd Brandl who is seeking to displace Merle Weinfurter atop the standings and Keith Bohmsach moved into the top five late in the race. As the checkered dropped Laessig took the win., Wisz claimed second his best finish of the season, Bell was third, Brandl claimed fourth and Grosbier would finish in the remaining top five position. Weinfurter's sixth place finish was enough to keep him atop the standings by a mere four points.
Curt Blenker led the first three laps of the Pure Stock feature bout could not;t hold off fast timer Marv Flick. Flick won the race, with Blenker second, Brian Stroik third and Kevin Fisher fourth.

13 Motorcycle riders sped around the super fast half-mile oval tonight, showering sparks in the corners from their steel plated left shoes, while putting on a passing display with passing and re-passing for the whole 8-lap feature. Rick Bretl from Appleton rode the hardest and came home the victor on his S-K Service 600 Honda with Shawano's Kurt Knitt pacing the rest of the field to finish in second place on his KK Racing 250 Kawasaki. Chad Miller came down from Eagle River to capture third on his 600 cc. Rotax. Gary Schallock and Tim Dupee won the Cruiser event. The TARGET Stores bike giveaway winner was Kyle Jahnke of Athene.

Next week is Wheeler, Chevrolet, Geo, Pontiac, Cadillac/ Snap-On End of Season Championship night. The evening will feature a full show of CWRA Late Models, CWSSA Super Stocks, Pure Stock and Cruisers. Regular Saturday night racing will continue next Saturday night. Miller Time Trials at set to begin at 5:30 p.m., with racing action getting underway at 7:00 p.m.
Marshfield Speedway is a half-mile asphalt oval, located just three miles west of Marshfield, WI on county trunk H, just west of town! See you there!!
