April 25, 1998; Marshfield, WI: -  It was a clear night as Gary Back flew into the fast time spot in the CWRA Late Model division.   Chad Brundidge won the Super Stock feature for the second week in a row in his truck bodied racer.  While Marv Flick's first appearance of the year brought him a heat and feature win in the Pure Stocks.

In the CWRA Late Model feature, rookie driver Brian Back grabbed the lead for the first three laps until former Rookie of the Year, Rory Melbinger overtook him for the top spot.  The father and son Lepak racing team moved their way to the front of the field in a few short laps.  Jeff Weinfurter, the track record holder also was working his way through the field.  Another driver on the move was Rex Rossier who was following Weinfurter through the pack towards the front.

Rory Melbinger took the lead in the CWRA feature race on the fourth lap and never looked back enroute to his first feature win of the season at Marshfield.		Brian Back got his car in a precarious position when he slid off the track and up an embankment off Marshfields fast corners.  He was able to get the car repaired and would later take 9th in the CWRA Late Model feature.

Melbinger continued to hold command over both Jeremy and Larry Lepak, as fast time Gary Back also moved into contention.  As the race continued Melbinger led the pack and gradually gained a good lead, distancing himself from his fellow competitors.  Melbinger won the event, with Jeremy Lepak second, Larry Lepak third, Weinfurter claiming fourth and Rossier rounding out the top five.

Chad Brundidge started dead last in the Super Stock feature in his truck bodied racer, and methodically worked through the field to take the lead and the win with four laps remaining!

The CWSSA Super Stock feature was originally led by Scott Marquard but several laps after the start Dave Pagels passed him.  Only six laps later Merle Weinfurter led for five laps until Cale Laessig worked past him for the top spot.  With only four laps to the finish, Chad Brundidge who started dead last and was biding his time took over the top spot.

Jeremy Lepak claimed the second CWRA Late Model heat race and later finished second in the main event.  It was a good night for the Lepak family as Jeremy's father Larry took a dash win and finished third in the main.		Marv Flick had a door to door battle for the lead with Brian Stroik.  Flick came out on top and took the Pure Stock feature!

On the checkered flag lap Brundidge hit the start/finish line first taking home the checkered.  Laessig was second followed by Weinfurter third, Larry Braunsky fourth and Greg Back fifth.

Roger Stanczk led the first couple of laps in the Pure Stock feature.  On lap three Brian Stroik grabbed the lead.  Merv Flick then worked his was through the field and challenged Stroik for the top spot.  On lap nine Flick crossed the line first, but Stroik came back to lead lap 10.

Stroik could not hold back Flick however, and Flick took the win.   Storik finished second, Stanczk claimed third, while Todd Stelzer who set fast time took fourth ahead of Brad Guralski.

CRUSIER WINNERS: Winners of the Cruiser event were the team of Rodney Feltz and Frances Esser.

Next weeks events are in memory of Jake Schoenfuss.  In addition to the full program of Late Models, Super Stocks and Pure Stocks, the Great Northern Legends will make their first appearance of the 1998 season.  Miller Time Trials are at 5:30 p.m. and racing is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
