May 16, 1998; Marshfield, WI: -  We were "warming up" on this calm night as a crowd of cars were on hand for racing at Marshfield Speedway.

Jeff Weinfurter took home the feature win in the CWRA Late Model feature event.  Weinfurter has had much success this season at Marshfield.  In addition to this weeks feature win ,he established a new track record on opening night.

In the CWRA Late Model feature Larry Lepak led the race until a caution caused by two other cars on lap 8, forced him to enter the pits to work on his car.  Jeff Weinfurter filled Lepak's shoes as leader when the race resumed.

An up and down evening!  Defending CWRA Late Model champion, Wayne Breitenfeldt won his heat race to start off the night on a good note, however that note soured a bit in the feature race where he got involved in an accident which ended his night.

As the race progressed, Brian Back closed the gap between himself and Weinfurter.  On lap 17, Back grabbed the lead from Weinfurter, but Weinfurter stayed within striking distance. On the white flag lap Weinfurter challenged Back's lead and took home the checkered.  Weinfurter won, Back was second followed by Mike Budelski, Rory Melbinger who has won two features so far this, and Gary Back claiming the top five positions.

Gary Wosick took over the lead in the Super Stock feature when leader Johnny Bell spun.  Wosick held the point from that point to the checkered to claim the feature win.

Chris Groebier led the first four laps of the CWSSA Super Stock feature until Johnny Bell took over on lap five.  A spin on lap 7 caused Bell to go to the rear.  At this point Gary Wosick claimed the lead.  Wosick set the pace as the field shuffled behind him.  Wosick won, Keith Bohmsach took second, Greg Back, Merle Weinfurter and Cale Laessig rounded out the top five finishers.

Brian Stroik held the lead throughout the Pure Stock feature.   Curt Blenker moved up from his second last starting position into second at the finish.  Kevin Fischer, Jim Osowski and Marv Flick took home the top five spots.

	Legends cars made their first appearance of the year at Marshfiled Super Speedway, and Charlie Menard came home the winner in the divisions main event.  He also took second in his heat and the dash.
Under construction... Marshfield Speedway continued to improve year after year.  This years project is the construction of a new VIP tower, located just towards turn one on the frontstretch.

Charlie Menard won the Legends feature, with Paul Berth second, Ben Pettis third, Milt Kemp fourth and Pat Hinner fifth.

John Dupee and Kevin Dupee won the ever popular Cruiser race for the second straight week.

Next weeks events on May 23, are sponsored by All-Car Automotive.   Racing includes CWRA Late Models, CWSSA Super Stocks, Pure Stocks, Crusiers and for the first time this season Motorcycles.  Miller Time Trials are at 5:30 p.m. and racing is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.

Marshfield Speedway is located just three miles west of Marshfield, WI on county trunk H.
