marsh986a.jpg (14746 bytes) Rory Melbinger has quickly become the man to beat in CWRA Late Model action at Marshfield Super Speedway.  Melbinger has guided his #88, machine to victory circle after the feature event three time so far this year.   Melbinger is currently second in points behind Jeff Weinfurter.

Brian Seubert led the first lap of the 20 lap CWRA Late Model main event.  As the pack came across the line on lap two Jeremy Lepak had claimed the lead.  Rory Melbinger started tenth in the field and by lap four he overtook Lepak for the lead.

Good start... and then!  Brian Seubert got off to a good start in the CWRA Late Model feature event pacing the opening round of the feature race.  Seubert's night didn't go as planned however as he ended up going off track and damaging his car in the process.  Seubert was unable to continue in the race. marsh986c.jpg (11095 bytes)

An accident on lap eight, forced Brian Seubert to be done for the night.  When the race resumed Melbinger needed to hold off the pack for 12 laps, and he did just that.  Melbinger won, followed closely by point leader Jeff Weinfurter in second, rookie hotshoe Brian Back in third, Lepak claiming fourth and Pete Kempf rounding out the top five finishers.

In the CWSSA Super Stock feature, former pure stock champion Johnny Bell held the lead for the first eight laps until Gary Wosick grabbed the lead on lap nine.  Bell took the lead back on lap ten.

Current point leader, Cale Laessig drove his sharp looking Monte Carlo to victory lane in the Super Stock division.  The win was early in the evening when he captured the dash event.  Though he didn't finish near the front in the main, he still holds a 10 point lead on Judd Brandl in the standings. marsh986d.jpg (12375 bytes)

An inside pass by Judd Brandl put him in the lead on lap 14 and he held off the pack for the win.  Larry Bruansky came on strong at the finish to take second, Greg Back got third ahead of Bell and Allan Sansky in a truck bodied racer who rounded out the top five finishers

Mike Bula held the lead for the first two laps of the Legend feature.  Pat Hinner took the lead for the next four tours of the half-mile oval, with Curt Gnatzig then assuming the lead and holding it to the checkered flag for the win.   Ben Pettis took a close second, Galen Manternach was third, Milt Kemp Jr and Pat Hinner rounded out the top five.

Victory lane is a popular place! In Legends car action,  Curt Gnatzig topped a strong field during their feature event, while Curt Blenker made his trip to victory circle during the pure stock heat race.

Shawn Stelzer came from last place to first in just eight laps in Pure Stock feature action.  Brian Stroik challenged Stelzer but could not take him on the straightaway.  Stelzer came home the winner with Stroik second.  Marv Flick, Curt Blenker and Brad Gurlaski claimed the top five finishing positions.

Next weeks events will be sponsored by Target, with the "Say No To Drugs" night also planned for the kids.  Children will be given stock car rides after time trials at the event after time trials. Miller Time Trials are at 5:30 p.m. and racing is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. With action in the CWRA Late Models, CWSSA Super Stocks, Pure Stocks and Cruisers planned.

Mark Mackesy got his evening off to a good start taking a win in the second of three CWRA late model heats.  Mackesy however didn't fare as well in the feature, failing to place among the front runners. marsh986b.jpg (12496 bytes)
