Wayne Cottrell won the CWRA Late Model feature at Marshfield Super Speedway on Saturday Night. The win was his first of the season at Marshfield. Cottrell however had been doing great on other area ovals, having already won features at Golden Sands Speedway (Plover, WI) and State Park Speedway (Wausau,WI). He became the first driver this year to record wins at all three tracks in the CWRA tour! |
Cotterll grabbed the lead right from the start followed by Wayne Breitenfeldt and Mike Brahmstedt. While Brahmstedt and Breitenfeldt battled side-by-side for the runner up spot, Cottrell padded his lead on the field.
An accident on lap six brought out the yellow but when racing resumed, Cottrell again continued to dominate the event. In the end, Cottrell won by ten car lengths over Breitenfeldt who made a surge down the final stretch to take second by a bumper over Brahmstedt. Keith Witt and Jeremy Lepak completed the top five runners.
