July 23, 2002; Lebanon, MO. - The high banks of the Lebanon Midway Speedway will be hosting a big doubleheader this weekend as it will open its gates for the second of three Enduro specials this season on Friday Night. The first event drew approx.42 entries with 36 actually taking the green flag in the 4 wide start in what may consider to be some of the best pure street racing around for the entire 150 laps as Iowa's Joe Lampe went down in the record books as the first ever winner pocketing $4000. This Friday will pay $3000 to the winner with around a 5500 purse up for grabs and unofficially 65 entries already signed-in.The feature will again be 150 laps with no yellows to be thrown and again the popular 4 wide start on the 3/8ths mile Asphalt oval. The Sportsman Cars and the popular Bomb Squad will be on the card also running a non-points race and running for extra money in the purse."We feel it only fair to run our point shows on Sat.Night as that is what most of our drivers are geared up for." quoted track announcer Ron Williams,"But when you talk to our drivers about extra money in the purse, then they start looking hard at that and most of them would be at the track to watch the Enduro anyway, and with a Great Battle in the point standings in those 2 classes,it could be a good chance for the contenders to try something a little different without losing anything in the standings, and with a new point leader and a 4 point difference in the Sportsman Standings within the top 3,anything goes!" The gates will open Friday night at 5PM with practice to start around 6:35 and the First race at 8PM on this Special Friday night show, then the track will be running it's normal race show with Raceway Minstries present some youth groups at the track from area churches on Sat night and returns to it's normal 7:30 starting time with NO Increase in admission for either night. Prices are in the Grandstands $8 for Adults,13-15 $4,and 12 and under are free while the WILDSIDE TIER PARKING AREA is $10 for Adults,13-15 $5,and 12 and under $2 for an old-fashioned tailgate party and family fun.
