August 21, 2002; Lebanon, MO. - The high-banks of the Lebanon Midway Speedway will be in full swing this weekend as the track along with Home-Docs in Waynesville and the Missouri Stockcarracing Club on Yahoo.com will be the evenings sponsors for the Kids Bike races this Sat Night. "We are going to give the kids a chance to do alittle racing"quoted announcer Ron Williams, "This is for 12 and under only and for any type of Bicycle whether it be a plastic 3 wheeler or regular bike. The kids will be broken into 3 different age brackets and will compete against each other for trophies and prizes with the top 5 in each class getting some beautiful trophies. The rules will be you MUST have and be wearing a helmet,knee pads, and elbow pads. There will be a table when you go through the grandstans to sign-up at and get your number. We are currently looking at breaking them into age brackets 6and under,7-9 and 10-12 to compete in. If we have alot on entries,then we will run qualifying races for the finals.This will be kinda a little drag racing and oval racing both as the lower and middle age brackets will be drag racing in a straight line race on the fron stretch,and the older age brackets(10-12) will get to race 1 lap around the track itself. This will be started around 6:50 or so in that time frame so that our drivers can watch there kids race in this-we feel that it will be fun for both the kids and adults. We want to thank the Missouri Stockcar Racing Club from the Internet on Yahoo.com for the trophies. Jim Perkins from Springfield Yellow Cab Company opened up to help sponsor this event for the trophies and the rest of the prizes are from Home-Docks and Harold and Janette Harmstrong from Midway Speedway. We might even try out letting the 7-9 age bracket running half a lap around the track. That will be decided at race time. The points battles are really heating up in all classes and this week Late Models, Modifieds, Sportsman, SuperStocks, Bombers, and this week the BabyGrands will be there along with the AMSOIL Mini-stocks. Gates will open at 5pm with practice starting at 5:30 and then kids bike races at 6:50-6:55 and the actual racing itself at 7:30 |
