August 27, 2002; Lebanon, MO. - Following the rainout from this last weekend,Lebanon Midway Speedway will be hosting Kids Night this coming Sat.Night with Kids bike races and kids rides at intermission. The bike races will be held starting approx.at 6:50 for the kids 12 and under and will be sponsored by The Missouri Stock Car Racing Club and Home Docs down in Waynesville,Mo. "This will be the last big fling for the kids this season," quoted announcer Ron Williams,"For the bike races, there will be a table set-up for the kids to get there number and register,no charge at all,but they must have helmets, elbow pads and knee pads in order to race. The 6 and under group will do the drag racing on the frontstretch while the 7-9 group gets to race half-a-lap around the track, and 10-12 will go 1 full lap with the top 5 in each group recieving nice trophies,in fact all the kids that race will recieve a prize. If we have alot of entries in an age group, then we will run small qualifying races to get into the finals. The parents shouldn't worry as we will have orange cones placed in the corners because of the steep banking and they will have to stay below those cones. Then at Intermission, the final ride night will happen with kids recieving 1 lap around in a race car or other vehicle. With school starting all around the area, the bragging rights in the classes will start-up Monday Morning!" The points battles are really getting close throughout the pack and don't be surprised if we don't run some double point races (not features, but pay double points what they normally get) for at least the last 2 shows of the season and possibly this Sat. Night also-but we will check with our drivers for there input on this weekends action as the points battles end on Sept.14th. Interest and entries are being recieved for the tracks Big Special on Sept.21-The 1st Annual Larry Phillips ShowMe Showdown featuring Late Models,Modifieds, and Bombers. "After a trip to I-70 Speedway last weekend-and talking to there drivers and going over the purses,we expect a BIG field of Late Models, and Modifieds especially with Lone Oak Printing putting extra money in the Modified Purse with a 26 car field making it a show paying 1250 to win",said Williams. "The I-70 cars couldn't believe it for a 50 lap Modified Feature and most of there top guns will be here to take on the local talent.I-70 Modified point leader Rod Cordon has a wedding that afternoon, but is trying to figure out how fast he can get to Lebanon with his Ford powered Modified, along with last seasons champ Randy Ainsworth,Gary Ainsworth,Buddy Benedict, and many others. "Tim Berrier really made this possible,"said Williams,"by putting up extra money on top of what the track will be paying,it is great!" I-70 point leader and last seasons Nascar Regional Champion John O'Neal will be on hand along with Buddy Benedict, Ron Hartford,Joe Ross, and possibly 3 time champ Jeff Klem, and top dog Clint Bowyer in the Late Model field. "To try to win the first ever ShowDown would be great", quoted O'Neal,"Tim Swearengin, Tony Jackson Jr, and Steve Holt are tough down there at Lebanon, but reading results I see that guys like Dusty Cromer, Ken Dickinson, Steve Simmons and others will be hard to beat in the 125 lapper. Larry was a teacher to me, and for several seasons, I ran his chassis, you learn from the master" Other interest is there from Jerrick Johnson,Midway Sportsman Hotshoes Scott Atkinson,Robert Reeves,Brian Schutt,Chris Nichols, and others taking the challange along with Wisconsin driver Scott Null. Then on Sat Night Sept.28th the final event of the season will find the Enduro 150 along with Babygrands and Trucks. Entries for the final Enduro race are still being taken by calling 417-532-6254 and this time window nets will be made manditory. We have been teasing and promising to run in reverse racing order but with the way our walls are at Lebanon, that could be dangerous to the drivers without a net,so this time watchout cause it could happen. Other special things going on are raffle tickets being sold for the winning Enduro Car from Enduro race #2 and Lebanon Suzuki-Kalwasaki are raffling a 250 4 wheeler and trailer, the Car will be drawn for at intermission at the Sept.21 show and the 4 wheeler at the final race in Sept. 28. You need not be present to win either. For more info contact 417-532-6254 or 417-532-2060 |
