- With six divisions on the asphalt and the points race coming to a close in three weeks
the racing action took on that appearance of urgency. Taking his first win of the season,
Ken Dickinson took the Late Model feature. Adding to their points lead, Dale Roper
-Modifieds, Steve Maddux - Super Streets, and Jason Otto - Pure Streets
In the Late Model action, their has been two drivers that has had a hold on the trophies. Tim Swearengin and Tony Jackson Jr. were both involved in two separate racing incident that would give them DNFs on the night. That opened the door for a new face in victory circle. It was not new, but the drought has been long, as Ken Dickinson, held off a hard charging Jerry Kelley for the win. Kelley who has been in the top of the finishes all season, came close to taking his first victory, but lapped traffic held him up. Kelley went on to finish second, Dusty Cromer third , and Archie Griffin fourth. Off the track fun, led to a broken ankle for Robert Reeves, so Tony Jackson Jr., jumped in the car that led him to the 2001 Late Model Sportsman Championship. And the familiar machine took him to victory with a green white checkered run on the field. Brian Schutt was second as he battled with team mate Scott Atkinson , who took third. It was point leader Gary Klossner finishing fourth. In the modified division, it looked as an upset was in the making. Wayne Lewis took his machine from the pole position and lead most of the race. Lewis has been hooked up over the past several weeks and was very fast. The top spot was between Lewis and Jim Hayes. But all of sudden late in the race point leader Dale Roper took to the outside, made it stick and passed several cars taking the checkered flag for the win. Lewis finished second, Hayes third, and Ron Myers fourth. Not new in the winner circle, Steve Maddux puts another Super Street Trophy on the mantle. Maddux had to work for this one hard, as he battled third place finished, Steve Shaw for several laps, then contended with second place finisher, Aaron Douglas. Maddux is close to wrapping up the points championship, barring any problems the next two weeks. Andrew Stake came home fourth. It seems that he starts from the eleventh position each week, and as the battle begins in the front of the field, he quietly moves to the front. Jason Otto, took another win over Kevin LaChance, second, in the Pure Street division. After several cautions, that line the cars side by side on the restarts, Otto took the advantage and pulled off the victory. John Roberts, with a win of his own this season, took third, while Ron Stokes came across the line fourth. In Baby Grand action, Ronald Rouse, made it two in a row, outlasting Carl Edwards for the win. Rouse, along with the Baby Grand field will be in racing action for the rest of the season schedule. The AMSOIL Mini Mods brought a different face to the O'Reilly Winner Circle.
John Wagner took the led and held off his fellow competitors for the win. Mike Piercy
finished second, while Brian Schofstehal took third. Late Model- Late Model Stock:
