September 28, 2002; Lebanon, MO. - Stoutland's "DownTown"Tim Brown took home the biggest payday of his racing career as he drove his 89 Caprice Classic to capture the Enduro Special 150 at the Lebanon Midway Speedway Sat.night before another capacity crowd in the season ending event.
With over 68 cars starting this 150 lap affair and the popular 4 wide start, it bacame evident that the game plan was for everyone racing to save there cars for the end. After only 8 laps into the event,a red flag had to be displayed as 4 cars or more ahd completely blocked the turn 1 entrance as officials felt this was extremely dangerous with those drivers all sitting there. On the restart,Lebanon's Matt Pilant once again took to the top spot with many drivers fighting to stay on the lead lap. With Pilant setting a fast pace,Brown began to make his charge from the 11th starting
spot with an early fallback in position. .Around lap 68, Shaw began to slow down and Springfield's Joe Lampe had charged from 48th to first and was setting a quicker pace as Brown had made it to 3rd spot with Pilant swapping positions in the front pack.Around lap 80,The Former Bolivar Bomber Champion Brown really picked up the pace and passed Lampe and starting to slice through the field as lapped traffic was becoming a headache for the leaders. With Brown still out in front, Lampe began a late race charge and found himself only about 3 seconds behind the leader and closing quickly,as Pilant and Late Model Standout Tony Jackson Jr were battling to stay on the lead lap. When lap 100 recorded, only 2 cars remained on the lead lap as contenders were going by the wayside. On lap 135 Lampe began to fall backwards with a possible tire going down and Brown cruised to the victory with Jackson coming home second in a close battle with Pilant for second, and 5 time Modified Champion David Bates recorded a 4th place finish in his station wagon. "This is the biggest payoff in my racing carrer!"exclaimed Brown."We have been running some of the high paying dirt SuperStock Shows, but my heart has always been on the asphalt, and to take this old Highway Patrol Cruiser into a 3000 payday was Great. In other action Steve Maddux and Jeremy Kelley really put on a classic battle in the 40 lap Super Stock feature until the duo touched with 12 laps remaining sending both to the rear of the field. From there Aaron Douglas took over until a late race caution for Andrew Stake's hard crash with 6 to go put Maddux right on Douglas bumper and from there Maddux took over with 3 to go for the win, followed very closely by Douglas, and a carrer best ever finish for Josh Woody as the three cars were almost bumper-to-bumper at the line. Colorado's Mike Hathaway took control from his front row starting spot to lead all 50 laps of the Super Trucks feature as trucks from 5 different states were on hand.Bolivar's Ron Polodna make a late race charge with 5 to go,but Hathaway was to strong in the end.
