Midway Speedway to Offer Opener This Weekend!

April 30, 2002; Lebanon, MO. - The high banks of the Lebanon Midway Speedway will try to outrun mother nature again this coming Sat.Night with the season opener after having the rain claim the first 3 weeks.

Action with the Late Models,Sportsman,Modifieds,Superstocks,and Bombers along with the Popular INEX Legends cars from out of the Joplin Mo.,and Oklahoma area will be making there first of 2 scheduled points races this season.These Spec type cars have grown over the years as they have the older type of Coupe Racing Bodies on them such as the 34 Fords and Chevy models.

This will be the second time these cars will be racing at Lebanon as they made there first visit back in 1999 and seemed to be very popular with the crowd. The class was the brainchild of NASCAR Winston Cup Promoter Humpy Wheeler and former driver Elliott-Forbes Robinson and they have grown over the years as they are a good starting point for many racers.

Also on the card this evening will be the always popular kids rides during intermission as the children 12 and under can recieve a ride in a real racecar 1 lap around the 17 degree banked Asphalt Oval for no charge at all.

This Saurday, will mark the first points race of the 2002 season as defending titlest Tim Swearengin (Late Models), Jim Hayes(Modifieds) will be ready to defend there championships. Other Season champs Tony Jackson Jr.(Sportsman), Robert Reeves(Superstocks) will be competing in new classes this season and Sam Shaw (Bombers) will be running a limited schedule.

Gates will open in the Grandstands at 5 with practice to Start at 5:30 and the first Green Flag will wave at 7:30pm.

Special family rates are offered with 2 Adults and 2 Children 15 and under to get in for $15.00. Regular admission prices for the grandstands are adults $8, kids 13-15 $4, and children under 13 are FREE with a paid adult.

The track also offers its famous "WILDSIDE TIER PARKING" with prices there Adults $10, Children 13-15 $5 and currently 12 and under are $2.Tier Parking usually opens around 4 p.m. with viewing from your own vehicle overlooking the 3/8ths mile oval on a first come first serve basis.
