Midway Speedway Brings Car Show to St. Robert!

March 14, 2002; Lebanon, MO. - Lebanon's Midway Speedway is bring the cars and stars of the high bank asphalt track to the race fans.  March 23rd, between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., local racing fans can get up close and touch the cars that will be on the track only one week later in the opening practice of the 2002 racing season at Midway Speedway. The cars will be at the St. Robert Wal-Mart SuperCenter located off Interstate 44.

Scheduled to appear is Crocker's Jim Hayes, 2001 Modified Track Champion. Sporting a new paint scheme that got a lot of attention at the car show that was recently held in Springfield, Hayes comments that this season will be harder to repeat as champion, as over 28 modifieds have registered.

Also appearing in his new late model, Tony Jackson Jr. has moved up from the Late Model Sportsman division where he captured the crown in 2002. Jackson is excited in competing on a full time basis in the Late Model division. Jackson ran a selected schedule in 1999 in the Late Models, but was full time in the Late Model Sportsman. Jumping from SuperStreet, Brian Brown went shopping over the winter and is now sporting the #99 Late Model. Brown feels confident in the move and is one of over 40 Late Models that has registered for the 2002 season.

Other drivers that will be on hand for autographs and photos, Jason Otto, Mark Eagleburger, Josh Woody, Brian Schutt and returning to the track after a 2 year layoff, Aaron Douglas. In addition, racing fans can get their $2 off opening night coupon along with the season schedule.

According to track manager, Harold Armstrong, this season is dedicated to the drivers and fans. Armstrong announced a reduced family package for each Saturday, along with various types of season passes available. With the first 2 practices on March 30th and April 6, many returning and new competitors will be taking to the asphalt this season.  Fans get in free at the practices, with action beginning at noon.
