Anticipation Builds as Midway Speedway Season Approaches!

April 8, 2002; Lebanon, MO. - The High banks of the Lebanon Midway Speedway will begin a new season under the ownership of Harold Armstrong.

Since the track opened as a premier dirt oval in 1983,it has always been a showplace,and underwent a facelift in 1989 when the pavement went down. Entering it's 19th season of local area racing, Harold Armstrong has seemed to bring life back into the 3/8ths mile oval and will begin the climb up the mountain top on this Saturday Night.

A record number of pre-registered drivers have signed-up for this season and so far it looks as if they will be rewarded as the five classes-Late Models, Late Model Sportsman, Modifieds, Superstocks, and Bombers are ready to rumble.

With the movement of drivers up the ladder and alot of familiar faces returning this season,the competition level will be very high. Defending Late Model Champion Tim Swearengin will be ready to try for a consectutive third title, and will find competition from 1999 champ Ken Dickinson, 1996 Rookie of the Year Jim Hunt, 1996 Bolivar Late Model champ Paul Wallen, 2001 Sportsman titlest Tony Jackson,Jr. and a host of other including a very talented rookie crop also including Springfield's Tom Smith, Arkansas Driver Adam Cain, and Baby Grand front-runner Dusty Cromer.

Modified Champion Jim Hayes will head a powerful field including 5 time track champ David Bates,3 time titlest Dale Roper,16 year old sensastion from Okla Marty Castens,Jr.and 2 time points runner-up Brian Schutt with his new DirtWorks Pavement Pounder, along with Rookie of the Year Ron Myers.

SuperStock Champ Robert Reeves will move to Late Model Sportsman anmd will head up a talented field lead by last seasons points Runner-up Gary Klossner in his Ford Thunderbird, Chris Nicholas, Brian Dorrell, and hard charging Sam Payne.

With the Superstocks-fan favorite Steve the Flying Farmer Maddux will return to action followed by Donnie Miller,Aaron Harden,2 time Bomber Champion Steve Shaw,and a host of others.

Other big events will include 3 scheduled Enduro Races, Extra Lap Features for all classes throughout the season, the Popular Legend Cars based from Joplin, Oklahoma and Texas on May 4th, Kids Rides every 1st Sat of the Month, Money Scrambles and a Treasure Hunt for early activities and a Family Affordable Grandstand Season long Special price of 2 Adults and 2 kids (15 and under ) for only $15.00.
