2002 STREET STOCK GENERAL DESCRIPTION
3000 pounds, 55% left side weight, factory steel body, 108 inch minimum wheel base,
2-barrel carburetor, 11.0:1 compression ratio stock frame.
ELIGIBLE MODELS
A) BODY / FRAME / INTERIOR / WINDOWS
1.Any American made car, front engine, and rear wheel drive, manufactured through 1990 may
be used.
2Intermarriage of body and frame between corporate manufactures not permitted.
3.Frame rails of unibody cars may be reinforced but must not replace stock frame rails
with tubing.
4.Unibody cars must have 10 inch circumference square or rectangular frame rails added
with .125 inch wall thickness connecting front and rear sub-frame.
5.Must have complete factory produced OEM steel body. No fiberglass or plastic after
market body parts permitted (except nose piece; see no. 6 below). No sun roof, T-top, or
convertible top permitted.
6.After market stock appearing plastic nose piece for make and model of car being used
permitted.
a.Camaro ? Upper piece only. Lower piece is not stock appearing.
b.Monte Carlo, Cutlass, Regal, Grand Prix ? May use Monte Carlo SS plastic nose piece.
NOTE: Either single tube fabricated bumper or stock passenger car bumper behind plastic
nose piece may be used.
7.No spoilers permitted. No fabricated body parts designed to enhance aerodynamics or that
alters stock appearance permitted. Headlight and taillight covers permitted.
8.Rust and other damage to body components may be replaced with same gauge steel; no
aluminum permitted.
9.All OEM inner metal panels, braces, reinforcements, etc. must remain intact, unless
specifically permitted in these rules.
10.Doors must be welded or bolted shut. Trunk lid and hood must be pinned down.
11.Must have all side glass, trim and upholstery removed, including soft dash components.
12.Must have stock factory automobile bumpers, front and rear, and must be securely
mounted in stock location for make and model of car.
13.Hood must remain rear hinged; steel hood may be debraced, but aluminum hood must remain
braced and unaltered. No hood scoops permitted.
14.Front inner fenders may be removed.
15.Front and rear firewall must remain stock and unaltered. All holes must be sealed with
metal patches.
16.Stock floor pan must remain from frame rail to frame rail. No cockpit-type interiors
permitted.
17.Rusted floor pan and trunk must be replaced with same gauge steel only. No aluminum
permitted.
18.Roof and dash may only be debraced for roll cage clearance.
19.Window and door operation hardware may be removed.
20.Inner front door panels may be removed to allow for curved door bars.
21.Steel trunk lid may be debraced, aluminum trunk lid must remain braced and unaltered.
22.Only outer half of rear wheel wells may be trimmed for tire clearance.
23.Wheel openings may be enlarged to 20 inches maximum from center of hub.
24.Trunk floor may only be cut to allow for fuel cell installation.
25.Must be equipped with a full stock glass or lexan windshield that is sufficiently
braced. Back window glass or lexan permitted.
26.Ground clearance is 4 inches minimum for side frame rails and body components with
driver in car.
WEIGHT
1.Minimum total weight is 3000 pounds after race with driver.
2.Maximum left side weight is 55% of total weight.
3.All ballast must be in block form of five pounds minimum, painted white, have car number
on it, and be securely fastened. A FINE OF $5.00 PER POUND WILL BE ASSESSED FOR ANY LEAD
FOUND ON THE TRACK.
4.Weight penalties may be added to any car not meeting rule requirements.
ENGINE
A) ENGINE LOCATION
a.Must be mounted in stock location with steel stock-type motor mounts. Torque limiting
straps or chains permitted.
B)ENGINE SIZE AND CONFIGURATION / ENGINE BLOCK
a.Maximum of 358 cubic inches, any bore, any stroke, NO TOLERANCE.
b.Must be a product of manufacturer of make and model of car being used in competition (GM
to GM, Ford to Ford, Chrysler to Chrysler).
c.Only cast iron engine block permitted.
d.No after market engine block permitted.
e.Maximum compression of 11:1.
B) OIL PAN / OIL SYSTEM
a.Dry sump systems not permitted.
C) CYLINDER HEADS
1.Only unaltered stock cast iron production heads limited to 2 valves per cylinder
permitted.
2.Chevrolet bow tie heads not permitted.
3.Ford number M-6049-N351 heads not permitted.
4.No port matching or flow work of any kind permitted.
5.Only steel valve springs permitted.
D) CRANKSHAFT / HARMONIC BALANCER
1.Only steel or cast iron production design crankshaft permitted.
2.After market crankshaft is permitted.
3.Any harmonic balancer permitted.
E) CAMSHAFT / VALVE LIFTERS / ROCKER ARMS
1.Any flat tappet camshaft using solid steel or hydraulic valve lifters permitted.
2.Roller or mushroom valve lifters not permitted.
3.Rev-kits not permitted.
4.Roller rocker arms permitted.
5.Lifters must be OEM diameter for block being used.
F)INTAKE MANIFOLD
1.Any cast iron 2-barrel.
2.No porting or polishing permitted.
G)CARBURETOR
1.Only 1, 2-barrel carburetor, which is OEM for make of engine being used, is permitted.
Must remain unaltered except for removal of choke butterfly. 1.375" diameter venturi
maximum, 1.6875" diameter throttle plate maximum.
2.Holley carburetor not permitted.
3.Fuel injection, superchargers, or nitrous oxide not permitted.
H) CARBURETOR AIR CLEANER / AIR INTAKE
1.A dry type round air cleaner element will be required. It must have metal top and bottom
with a diameter of 12 inches minimum, 17 inches maximum and a maximum height of 4 inches.
2.No spacers will be permitted between top of carburetor and air cleaner base.
3.Air cleaner top must be under hood.
4.All air must be filtered through air cleaner.
5.Must not be sprayed or soaked with any type of chemicals.
6.No air boxes permitted.
7.No hoses, funneling devices, or devices designed to get more air into engine will be
permitted (no carb hat).
No air intakes facing forward permitted.
IGNITION / ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
1.Only stock single point or electronic distributor permitted.
2.Crank triggered, multiple coil ignitions, or multiple spark discharge systems not
permitted.
3.Onboard electronics such as but not limited to lap timing devices, suspension monitors,
computers, torque limiter ignitions, and other electronic devices not permitted.
ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM
A) FAN / FAN SHROUD
1.Fan must be belt driven. Electric fan may be used along with belt driven fan.
2.Fan shroud must cover a minimum of top 180 degrees of fan and must extend at least to
centerline of fan blades.
EXHAUST
1.1.625" diameter maximum primary tube, under car headers permitted.
2.Must be sealed tight and securely mounted.
DRIVE TRAIN
A) CLUTCH / FLYWHEEL / BELLHOUSING
1.Must have OEM type flywheel, clutch disc and pressure plate when using manual
transmission.
2.Clutch disc must be OEM for flywheel.
3.High speed multiple disc clutch, aluminum flywheel, or aluminum pressure plate not
permitted.
4.No after market clutch-actuating devices permitted.
5.Must have easily accessible 1-1/2 inch diameter inspection hole in bell housing.
6.Only steel or heavy-duty cast iron bellhousing permitted; if not
available for model engine being used, may construct a 360 degree steel shield 3/8 inch
thick by 6 inches wide minimum.
7.Must be capable of being put into and taken out of gear with engine running.
B) TRANSMISSION / DRIVE SHAFT / REAR END
a.3 or 4 speed transmission must be OEM production manufactured that is cataloged through
regular dealer channels.
b.Automatic transmission is permitted, but must use an OEM stock and functional torque
converter.
c.5 speed, internal clutch transmission, or quick-change transmission not permitted.
d.Transmission must have at least 2 forward gears and reverse gear in working order.
e.Transmission must bolt directly to rear of bell housing unit, which bolts directly to
rear of engine block.
f.Only steel drive shaft permitted.
g.Rear end must not be locked. No locking devices of any kind permitted. No welded spider
gears, posi-track, limited slip, etc. permitted.
h.9 inch Ford, 3/4 ton truck, or other heavy duty rear end is permitted.
i.Open tube, quick change, or aluminum rear end not permitted.
j.Independent rear axles not permitted.
k.Full floating rear axles recommended.
C) WHEELS
a.Only steel racing wheels with a maximum width of 8 inches permitted.
b.OEM and reinforced OEM wheels not permitted.
c.Bead locks not permitted.
d.Wide 5 wheels not permitted.
e.5/8 inch wheel studs recommended.
D) BRAKES
a.Must remain OEM stock.
b.Rotors must not be drilled or lightened.
c.Rear brakes must match rear end.
d.Brake pedal must remain in stock location and use stock mounts.
e.No brake bias adjuster permitted.
f.No inline shut off or pressure adjusting valves permitted.
g.Brakes must operate all 4 wheels.
WHEELBASE
1.Must be OEM wheel base dimension for body style with a minimum of 108 inches permitted.
SUSPENSION / STEERING COMPONENTS
1.Suspension type must be OEM for make and model of car.
2.All suspension parts and steering components, unless specifically permitted, must be
unaltered OEM and in stock location for make and model of car. This includes but is not
limited to the following: A-frames, rear control arms, front and rear spring mounts,
pitman arm, idler arm.
3.Front spindles and hubs may be interchanged within corporate manufacturer. No
alterations permitted. No after market spindles or hubs permitted.
4.Lowering blocks between spindle and ball joints not permitted.
5.Shocks must mount in stock location, except for right front which may be relocated to
allow for weight jack.
6.No adjustable shocks permitted. Shocks must be sealed units that cannot be disassembled.
7.Weight jack permitted on right front only.
8.No adjustable suspension components or weight shifting devices that can be adjusted
inside driver compartment permitted.
9.Must have a collapsible steering shaft or use at least 2 universal joints, which are not
mounted in same plane.
10.Must use an approved steering wheel disconnect.
11.Rack and pinion steering not permitted.
12.SPRINGS
a.Coil springs must be a minimum of 4-1/2 inches in diameter.
b.No fiberglass springs permitted.
FUEL / FUEL SYSTEM
1.Track racing fuel is permitted. If fuel other than track fuel is used, it can match, but
must not exceed testing results of track fuel.
2.No fuel additives permitted.
3.Only OEM type mechanical fuel pumps mounted in stock location permitted. No electric
fuel pumps permitted.
4.Fuel lines must be of armored hose, or installed in metal conduit, or steel fuel line
and must not be routed through driver compartment.
FUEL CELL / GAS TANK
1.Fuel cell mandatory with a maximum of 22 gallons including fill spout. Fuel cells with a
plastic or rubber bladder required.
2.Fuel cell, must be encased in a container of 20 gauge steel or 1/8 inch aluminum. In
addition, must have 3, 1/8 inch steel protection plates on rear and sides of fuel cell
that attach to square tubing, straps (see diagram #1), or frame of car.
3.Bottom of fuel cell to be no lower than bottom of rear axle tubes.
4.Must be located between frame rails behind rear axle.
5.Must have drag loop extending below bottom of fuel cell.
6.Must have check valve on vent tube or cap.
ROLL CAGE
1.Must be constructed of no less than 1.66 inch diameter by 13 gauge (.095 inch) carbon
steel round mechanical tubing.
2.Must be welded to frame of car in no less than 6 places. Cannot be welded to body.
3.Must have a 3/16 inch inspection hole in 1 main upright.
4.Bends must not have any kinks.
5.Must be kept inside of car.
6.All joints must be completely electric welded all around and be slag free.
7.Minimum requirements for all roll cages are as follows:
a.4 upright bars and 3 overhead bars.
b.4 curved horizontal bars in driver door and 3 in passenger door connected by vertical
tubing.
c.1 horizontal bar in dash area connecting front uprights.
d.Roof support bar (see diagram #2).
e.Rear hoop brace (see diagram #3).
f.Tubing to protect driver's feet (see diagram #4).
g.Vent window brace on driver side (see diagram #4).
h.Complete engine compartment and trunk compartment braces are required.
SAFETY EQUIPMENT
1.Onboard fire-out system recommended.
MISCELLANEOUS
1.Post-race inspection is mandatory for any car competing with a weight
penalty that finishes the feature race. |
