August 7, 2001; Eagle River, WI. - The
heat was sweltering and the racing action was hot on Tuesday, August 7th, at Riverside
Raceway in Eagle River. The night's action was sponsored by Ron's Auto Sales of Eagle
River.
Jason Shattuck took the lead halfway through the first Bandit heat and was
followed by Tim Miller and Rich Rosemark. In heat two of the Bandits, Jim Nieckula led
from start to finish followed by Rod Radziczak and Tim Rosemark overtaking Dustin Miller
for third.
Heat one in Pure Stocks saw Dan Melton victorious over brother Jeremy Melton with Brian
Slizewski following in third. Chad Rosinski led all the way to the checkered flag in Pure
Stock heat two. Marlys Scharf followed him in second with Jim Melton coming in third.
The Street Stock heat was led early by Jeff Ingman. Fritz Scharf made a couple of slick
moves to go from fourth to first. Jeff Ingman ended up taking second place and Mike Boyd
came in third.
Tad Schoonover held on for the win in the Miller Lite A-Mod heat race followed closely by
Scott Blamberg and Tom Zdroik.
After intermission it was time for the feature races. The Miller Lite A-Mods kicked things
off. Tad Schoonover took the early lead until contact between him and Zdroik sent
Schoonover to the pits. Zdroik took over the lead until he too got a flat and had to pit
on a yellow. Scott Blamberg inherited the lead and never looked back taking the win. Tom
Zdroik came in second with Guy Carley coming in third.
Jeff Ingman and John Johnson battled for the lead early in the Street Stock feature.
Contact between them gave Ingman a flat and he spun in corner two sending him to the pits.
Fritz Scharf took the lead on the restart and went on for the win followed by Ken Valeria
and Mike Boyd.
Tom Nolda took the early lead in the Pure Stock feature, which went flag to flag caution
free. A lapped car got in his way on turn four and Nolda lost the lead to Chad Rosinski.
Rosinski cruised to the win with Nolda second and Keith Durand a season best third.
In the Bandit feature, Tim Miller led the first half of the race until Rich Rosemark
sneaked underneath him in corner two and took over the lead. Bruce Belland and Jason
Shattuck challenged the leader the rest of the race but Rosemark hung on for the win with
Belland second and Shattuck third.
In the Street Eliminator class, Jim Kennedy powered his S-10 4X4 past favorite Thad
Boettcher for the trophy. In a grudge race Brad Hartman's 99 4-door 4X4 Dually edged out
Pat Findley's 99 Dodge Dually.
