Slizewski sizzles in
Pure Stock action, Zdroik captures A-Mod win!

August 14, 2001; Eagle River, WI. - Coca-Cola
night at the races featured some great racing under clear skies at Riverside Raceway in
Eagle River, Tuesday, August 14th.
In heat one of the Bandits, Dan Zelton took over after lap two to take the win
while Phil Malouf and Bruce Belland were side by side for the last few laps with Malouf
prevailing and Belland settling for third. Jason Shattuck and Tim Rosemark ran away from
the pack to finish one-two respectively in the second heat of the Bandits. Rod Rodziczak
finished third.
Dan Melton led the first Pure Stock heat until a spin sent him to the back. Brian
Slizewski took over until Vic Bodamer got by him and held on for the win with Slizewski
second and Tom Nolda third. In the Pure Stock second heat Chad Rosinski led most of the
way until a steering problem sent him into the wall and onto his trailer. Jeremy Melton,
who was running in second ended up with a flat and Marlys Scharf got by Keith Durand for
the win. Durand was second and Jim Melton was third.
In the first Street Stock heat Dennis Lacrosse held off Fritz Scharf for the win with
Scharf second and Joe St Germain third. Heat two saw Ken Valeria take the lead on lap four
from Mike Boyd and proceeded to run away with it. Boyd finished second and Ryan Glembin
third.
Tad Schoonover led the First Miller Lite A-Mod heat from flag to flag. Mark Albertus got
by Scott Blamberg on the last lap to finish second. Heat two had Ken Smith lead early but
gave way to Stan Rychlock. Heavy contact on the last lap between the Tom Zdroik and
Rychlock saw Zdroik come out on top for the win with Rychlock second and Guy Carly third.
After intermission, the Pure Stocks came to the line. Chad Belland took over the lead from
Dan Melton after a few laps. Brian Slizewski took over second from Bodamer on lap seven
and hounded Belland until Belland spun in corner four giving Slizewski the lead. A caution
due to a fire on Dan Melton's car ended the race as time had expired. Slizewski was
declared the winner with Keith Durand second and Chad Belland third.
Mike Boyd led the Street Stock feature until Ken Valeria passed him on the last lap for
the win with Boyd finishing second and LaCrosse third.
The next feature of the night was the Bandits. Phil Malouf led the first ten laps. Belland
got by him for the win with Malouf taking second and Zelton third.
Kenny Smith and Mark Albertus swapped the lead a few times early in the Miller Lite A-Mod
feature. Tom Zdroik who was never far behind took advantage of several yellows and lots of
broken equipment to edge by Tad Schoonover for the win. Schoonover finished second and Guy
Carly third.
Thad Boettcher edged out Ann Chapman for the win in the Street Eliminator class.
