Point leaders Blamberg, Belland and Valeria tops features and take titles at Riverside Raceway Season Championships!

September 2, 2001; Eagle River, WI. - The last point's race of the season was held Sunday, September 2, at Riverside Raceway in Eagle River. In a season first, all point leaders started in the front of both the heat and the feature races. The 6-cylinder Super Stocks from Ashland also made their Labor Day appearance.

Bandit heats started off with Rich Rosemark winning heat one. Bruce Belland was second and Ryan Burzinski was third. Heat two saw Rob Rodziczak lead from flag to flag. Tim Rosemark captured second and Tim Miller third.

In Pure Stock heat one Vic Bodamer was victorious with Brian Slizewski second and Roger Walker third. Wayne Nylund won the second heat of Pure Stocks. Marlys Scharf was second and Chad Rosinski was third.

Mike Boyd held off a challenge by Ken Valeria to take heat one in the Street Stocks. Ken Valeria hung on to second with John Johnson third. Heat two of the Streets had Fritz Scharf take the checkers with Mike Vogt second and Dennis LaCrosse third.

Scott Blamberg outdistanced Tad Schoonover in the first Miller Lite A-Mod heat. Kenny Smith placed third. Bob Kleinschmidt captured the second heat win with Stan Rychlock second and Guy Carly third.

Joe Wolf handily won the first heat of the 6-cylinder Supers. Ron Hmielewski, despite hitting the guardrail early, ended up second and Jim Maki edged out Jim Anderson for third. Pat Beeksma easily won heat two. Steve Walston hung on for second and Pat Cook took third.

The Bandit feature kicked off the second half of the show. Bruce Belland was unbeatable as he captured the feature win and also the Season Points Championship. Rich Rosemark held off Mark Schuenemann for second.

Marlys Scharf got off to an early lead and held off Vic Bodamer for the win. Brian Slizewski finished third and was Points Champion for the season.

Ken Valeria who had the slimmest of leads going into this race followed Fritz Scharf through most of the Street Stock feature. Valeria finally got by Scharf for the win with Scharf second and Mike Boyd third. Ken Valeria was the Season Champion.

Point Leader Scott Blamberg pulled off a win in the Miller Lite A-mod feature. Jerry Grasse in just his second appearance this season managed a second and Tim Kolehouse third.

Fifteen cars started the 6-Cylinder Super Stock feature. It took several restarts to get in the first complete lap. When the dust settled, Ron Hmielewski ended up with the time limit shortened win. Pat Beeksma wound up second and Rick Wolf third.

Fireworks, which were scheduled after the races, were cancelled due to strong winds and very dry conditions. Lenora Glembin presented the trophies to the winners of the Ken Glembin Memorial Season Championship Race.
