followed by Jim Nieckula and Tim Rosemark.
Marlys Scharf overtook Chad Rosinski about halfway through the Pure
Stock first heat and hung on for the win followed by Brian Slizewski and Dan Melton in a
slam bang finish. Roger Walker led heat two from flag to flag. Chad Lederer finished
second and Vic Bodamer finished third.
Neal Slizewski won his first race ever at Riverside in heat one of
the Street Stocks. Shawn Bialas was second and Ken Valeria was third. Heat two saw Mike
Boyd lead most of the race but he and Fritz Scharf got tangled up on the front stretch and
Scharf took over the lead followed by Toby Selmer and Mike Boyd.
Next up was the Miller Lite A-Mods heat one. Troy Payne picked up
the win. Mark Albertus was runner up and Scott Blamberg was third. Heat two had Tad
Schoonover hang on for the victory with Ken Smith second and Bob Kleinschmidt third.
Intermission followed with the drivers pulling their cars up on the
front straightaway and then signing autographs for the fans, who were allowed to go and
look over the cars. OK Auto Parts gave away lots of unique merchandise during intermission
as part of their involvement in the show.
The Street Stock feature race saw plenty of action. Neal Slizewski
took the early lead but on lap two Ken Valeria sneaked by on the inside and took over. The real race was for second between Fritz Scharf
and Shawn Bialas. Bialas hung on until late in the race when Scharf motored by on the
outside to end up second. Bialas had a flat and retired to the pits. Toby Selmer ended up
third.
Next up were the Pure Stocks. Chad Lederer took over the lead on
lap two. He held the lead through numerous restarts and although challenged by Chad
Rosinski and Roger Walker managed to hold on until the race was up against the 20-minute
time limit. Walker finished second and Marlys Scharf third.
It looked like Kenny Smith was going to take his first feature win
in the Miller Lite A-Mod race as he held the lead for twelve of the fifteen laps.
Unfortunately a spin sent him to the back and Scott Blamberg took over the lead to the
checkers. Tad Schoonover, who kept out of trouble, finished second and Guy Carly had his
best finish of the season with a third.
The best feature of the night saw a spectacular rollover in turn
one when Robin Smith broke an axle and flipped, finally ending up on his remaining three
wheels. He was not injured and got a big hand when he emerged from the car. Dustin Miller
led the first few laps but gave way to Rich and Tim Rosemark. They battled for a few laps
but were both overtaken by Bruce Belland who went on to win. Tim Rosemark finished second
and Rich Rosemark third.
In Street Eliminators Thad Boettcher saw his winning streak come to
an end as newcomer Adam LaFriske took the trophy in a side by side duel around the third
mile oval. Drivers are urged to enter the Street Eliminator class, which features novice
drivers in street legal cars for one lap. Call Don Scharf at 715-479-8199 for rules and
