June 3, 2003; Eagle River, WI. - With the roar and the splendor of authentic Winston Cup racecars in the background, 36 cars took to the track on Riverside's first Tuesday night race of the season. he WISSOTA Midwest Mods presented by Miller Lite were the first on the track. Scott Anderson won the heat race holding off Bob Kleinschmidt and Duane Dunbar. Kevin Maulson took the victory in the WISSOTA Street Stock heat race. It is his second heat win in as many weeks. In the WISSOTA Midwest Mod Feature, Chuck Gross held the early lead, but was pressured hard by Duane Dunbar. On lap 10, Dunbar mad the move to the inside and took the lead. Chuck Gross held on to third over Mickey Nosser and Troy Smart. The WISSOTA Street Stock Feature showed that while a fast car is always good, a little
luck never hurts. The number that Fritz Scharf drew for the feature was good enough to put
him fifth on the starting grid, but Kevin Maulson, who would have started third, broke a
rear axel on the pace lap and pole sitter Bruce Belland, brought out the caution on the
first attempt at a Phil Malouf charged from last on the starting grid to the lead in just four laps in the
Bandit/Super Bandit Feature. Dustin Miller had the only car capable of challenging Malouf,
and passed Malouf back on lap five. The final 10 laps of the feature were a duel between
Miller and Malouf. Miller held off Malouf for the remainder of the race to take the win.
Tim Stolar completed a Super Bandit sweep of the top three positions. Rusty Williams was
the last car running in fourth. For this rules infraction, Pete Luedke was disqualified and forfeited all of his winnings and points for the night. All drivers who finished behind Luedke were moved up one position. That gave Marlys Scharf, who finished second to Luedke in their heat and the feature, the nightly sweep. B.J. Slizewski, the winner of the first heat of the Pure Stocks was given second in the feature. Rob Rodziczak, Mark Schuenemann and rookie driver Cody Valeria rounded out the top five.
