Riverside Raceway to have Earnhardt, Wallace Cars on Display June 3!
By Jeremy Mayo

May 28, 2003; Eagle River, WI. -  Riverside Raceway is proud to announce a deal with Illinois-based Chapman
Motorsports that will bring fans up close and personal with NASCAR History Tuesday, June 3, on B93 NASCAR Night.
Two authentic NASCAR Winston Cup Race Cars, driven by two NASCAR Winston Cup Champions will be on display during Riverside's first night of Tuesday racing. The cars are an 1984 model of the #88 Gatorade Pontiac that Rusty Wallace piloted in his first full season of Winston Cup Racing, and the 1987 model of the #3 Wrangler Chevrolet that the late Dale Earnhardt drove in his third of a record-tying seven Winston Cup Championship seasons.

These cars are not just show cars; they were actually driven by Wallace and Earnhardt at NASCAR's fastest racetracks; Daytona International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway. Before NASCAR implemented power-robbing carburetor
restrictor plates in 1988, the speeds at these two races tracks were incredibly fast, over 210 miles per hour. Rusty Wallace came up through the ranks on the local tracks in his home state of Missouri, and the Midwest-based ASA Racing Series before hopping into a Winston Cup car full-time in 1984. During that season Wallace had two top 5 and four top 10 finishes en route to 14th place in the drivers' standings and NASCAR Rookie of the Year honors. It was the beginning of a career that has seen Rusty win 54 Winston Cup races, and the 1989 NASCAR Winston Cup Championship.

Dale Earnhardt, a second-generation driver from North Carolina, quickly earned the nicknames "Ironhead" and "The Intimidator" for his aggressive driving style. In 1987, Dale Earnhardt and car owner Richard Childress looked to defend their 1986 Winston Cup Championship success. With 11 wins and 21 top 5 finishes in 29 races, Earnhardt was able to defend the
championship. Earnhardt had seven Winston Cup Championships, one Daytona 500 victory, and 76 total Winston Cup Series wins. He seemed to be poised to make a run for his eighth Winston Cup Championship, before his life was tragically cut short in a crash on the final lap of the 2001 Daytona 500.

Sponsoring the event will be your NASCAR connection in the Northwoods, B93 Radio. Not only will you see NASCAR History, you will also see great racing with two WISSOTA sanctioned classes and Riverside's own Pure Stocks, Bandits
and Super Bandits.

All this excitement is on Tuesday, June 3. The gates open at 5:30 p.m. with hot laps at 7:30 p.m., racing at 8:00 p.m. and the cars on display throughout the evening. Riverside Raceway is located three miles West of Eagle River, off of Highway 70 on Cloverland Drive.
