Rain Washes Away Tuesday Night Opener at Riverside Raceway
By Jeremy Mayo

June 6, 2006; Eagle River, WI. - Afternoon showers and thunderstorms forced the cancellation of Tuesday night's racing program at Riverside Raceway. The race was supposed to be the first in a series of weekly Tuesday Night shows at Riverside throughout the summer.

The official decision to cancel the races was made by track owner and promoter Don Scharf around 2:30 in the afternoon. By that time, Scharf estimated that a half-inch of rain had already soaked Eagle River. More showers and thunderstorms were forecast for the evening.

"The worst case scenario is that it would take until 9 o'clock to get the track packed in. We would line up the first heat and then we would get a downpour. That would ruin all the hard work we did to get the track ready."

Racing is scheduled to resume at Riverside Raceway Tuesday, June 13. A full program, complete with Miller Lite WISSOTA Midwest Mods, Fire-Up Fireworks WISSOTA Street Stocks, Pure Stocks and Family Fours is planned. Hot Laps begin at 7:30, with racing at 8:00.
