Slinger Super Speedway Honors Champions!

February 28, 2000; Slinger, WI - Slinger Super Speedway completed their 52nd year of
Motorsports and closed their 1999 season by honoring many brilliant drivers. The annual Awards Banquet for the Slinger Super Speedway was held on February 26 at The Circle B Entertainment Center. Where nearly 500 drivers, crew, family members and raceway sponsors attended to pay tribute to the champions in each of the five divisions. Throughout the evening, Slinger Speedway and various sponsors had passed out over $60,000.00 in cash and contingency, drawings and products to the award winners.

Toping the list was the crowning of the Late Model Champion Conrad Morgan who has now won the title for an unprecedented sixth time! Morgan's sixth title was due in part to a pretty much flawless season, by setting fourteen fast times, claiming nine feature wins, 20 top five finishes, taking the Miller Lite Nationals and the overall title of the Coca Cola Triple Crown Series presented by Mobil.

Runner-up to Morgan was the driver of 23 years, Lowell Bennett who claimed the second place finish title in the Triple Crown Series. Bennett has won 100 features in his career, and for the 2000 season he can bank on more to add to his collection. David Prunty finished third in the point standings, and never finished below the tenth spot while he set three fast times this past season.  Al Schill, Sr., who placed fourth this past year, has claimed 15 championships throughout his career led the division on trophy dash wins and earned the checkered flag during one of the Miller Lite Nationals features. Keeping himself busy, he also took the third place title of the Coca Cola Series.

Taking the fifth spot was Cindy Peterson who started competing at the age of ten. Rounding out the top ten were Tony Strupp, Eric Fransen, Toby Rott, Rich Loch and Jeff Kendall. Wayne Fremund took honors of being the Rookie of the year, while Dean Gagliano won the Late Model Hard Luck award.

Showing poise of a true champion was Dennis Prunty of Allenton, coming from his Rookie of the Year title in '98, proved that in only his second year he could claim the Championship in the Modified Division. Taking the runner up position was the driver who set fourteen fast times, Florian Wisinski. Brian Holtz won the third place title while Dale Prunty claimed the 1999 title Modified Rookie of the Year and fourth to finish one spot behind him was Larry Reihbrandt.

Lyle Messinger claimed the Street Stock rookie of the year honors at Slinger.

In the Slinger Stinger division voted most improved and champion Dan Miller gave thanks to his competitors and took the opportunity to announce he is moving to the Modified division for the 2000 season.

Runner up position went to Pete Wiedmeyer, to follow by Mike Pascavis, Roger Schmid and Mark Bitzan to round out the five. To claim the Rookie of the year honors was Milwaukee driver Lyle Messinger in the Street Stock division.

Mark Ritger showed style in the Figure 8 Division as he won his fourth Championship in his class to follow by Randy Theimer, Chris Price, Willy Van Camp and Shane Becker to top the five.

The two time champions of the Team Cruiser Division were Dan and Mark Jung. Slinger Super Speedway also honored John Unser Concessions Manager for his retirement and wished him the best, along with Bill and Terry Baird who have been long time dedicated lead staff at the speedway and will all be missed.

In a final drawing of the 1999 Awards Banquet evening was a Five Star Late Model body won by Scott Schoeni.

The new 2000 season will be here in a matter of weeks, and this years sponsors have stepped up their support of the Worlds Fastest ¼ mile oval. The season begins on Saturday April 29th with the annual Afternoon practice; drivers will be able to get set up for the season and The Miller Genuine
Draft Twin 75's Spring Opener. 

This season will be one of the most promising years to date with big names, and big prizes to be offered all season long.
